Well this was a big step in the right direction.
Hold on for a second... you have functioning washers on you windshield??

Making headway and checking items off the list. Its nice to have it all going back together better than it was.
Almost finished with wiring the from end and adding larger power and ground cables. Went with 0 guage which should help quite a bit.

New, larger trans cooler plumbed and mounted

With the new headers I had to adjust the exhaust a little. I cut out about 4" angled it over about half an inch.

The_Blaze came by to work on his rail he made for a safari top and while he was over we tried to fire the engine. We had to pull the distributor 3 times but got it running and it sounded great. Had a little situation though, apparently its important for the radiator cap to be on tight. He noticed it was leaking a bit and when he made a move to tighten it the cap popped of and doused him. Luckily the truck was still warming up and it wasn't at max temp yet. He did get a slight burn on his arm and hopefully its better in a couple days.

Truck is 99% back together and driveable. I took it around the block and the trans is holding until 3k before shifting. I have a new torque converter with 2500 stall. Should it be holding like that or shift at a lower rpm like a standard converter?

Also loving the fans.

So I've got the trans feeling good and drove it a bit last night and this morning over to home depot to grab a few things and it died. It won't idke, I can get it to start but have to mash the throttle or else it just stumbles and dies. Pretty sure its a carb issue and will start tracking it down. Hopefully it doesn't need a rebuild .

Any other fuel system changes during the engine swap? Have you checked the fuel filter?

Yeah I have a glass filter by the carb and have changed the element when it was off.no other changes. I can see it getting fuel and its smells really rich.

While I was brain storming with The_blaze this evening we came to that conclusion. Ill pop the top on it tomorrow and see if that's the deal. If not I have 3 parts warehouses within a few miles of here. I can get a rebuild kit or a whole carb.
I had originally ordered a fitech kit in April but it was cancelled due to back order, now I'm really wishing it had worked out.
