I’ve been trying to post but had limited service for the last few days.

When I first fired it the timing was off quite a bit making it real lopey. Sounded cool but evened out with adjustments.

It sounds quite a bit different than the flow masters and I like it.
 
After I got the truck running I noticed it stumbling a bit and it got me concerned. I started checking spark plug wires, timing grounds, and anything that could be wrong.

-So far at this point it was only running in the driveway and revels a few times. -

Checked the fuel pressure

And then double checked it. @the_blaze had an extra gauge.

It’s supposed to be reading 40ish psi but both were reading almost nothing.
About this point I tossed a new fuel pump in it with no change to the pressure reading.
@ashman suggested I try driving it since the Fitech ecm was new and needed to learn.
And would you know it smoothed right out and drive just fine. Spent a day of the prep time chasing a non problem.
 
Continuing with the just drive it idea, I tossed all my gear in the back and headed over to load up on the trailer.

Next morning bright and early we hit the road to rubicon.

But first my brother’s neighbor had a sweet squarebody out when I stopped by to pick him up.

Made it 120 miles to Wendover.
It was here we found the first issue of the trailer tire saga.

Here’s where the fun really starts.
Soon after leaving the bowl the Jimmy started to chug and would barely idle. In 4 low I could only make it over a curb sized rock before getting stopped.

It finally sputtered and died and I was really worried the Fitech was going to leave me stranded.
I popped the intake off the throttle body and had one of the guys crank the engine to see if I was getting a prime shot. Nothing. Not even trying, but I could hear the pump in the tank.
At this point I’m thinking the pump might be bad and just making really low pressure. So I hop in the back, pop the fuel tank door and start pulling the fuel sender. As soon as the sender comes out of the tank, the fuel pump pops off the sender. The little piece of hose that came with the pump doesn’t appear to be submersible and got soft in the tank. The clamp loosened a little and it was just circulating fuel in the tank.
I retightened and added new clamps on the pump and away we go.

Sounds like a quick diagnosis and repair. Cool!
Looking back, do you think that the low pressure previously was due to this? Is the gauge reading proper now?
 
No I don’t think that was the cause. I think the gauges are just duds. Once everything was tightened up and the running again, the gauge still showed low pressure.
 
Been staring at this thing for too long. After rubicon I parked it as it needed some love. The front springs needed to be replaced. The FUSH bushings needed to be swapped.
Need to replace bump stops, and something was binding in my suspension/drivetrain.

The axle was not on the jack stand. The driveshaft is bound up and won’t extend. I had to disconnect it for the suspension to droop. IMG_1149.jpeg

Not sure if this will help but it might. Wrapped Teflon tape on my bushings to help keep the squeaks away.

It was pushing hard enough to knock the transfer case into neutral. Do have a leak now and hope it’s just a seal and not a crack. Haven’t dug in that far.
