He could be flipping the 4l80 too if he bought it. But that is a stellar doner for a vortec 454.

Not to mention that burb probably has a 14bff and other goodies worth $$$ to part out. Might be able to recoup part of the cost of the rat that way.

There's a k2500 GMC burb with the 454 on Craigslist in Pueblo for $1500 right now too. Just saying.

I happen to know a guy with a super low mileage, really clean, all original 1981 454 with a man trans behind it. Wink wink.

Farting out the intake is usually a lean condition, or less likely timing.

Did you unclusterfock the 9 fuel filters and stuff? What’s your fuel line pressure at the TB?

Filters are unfocked, been for a while.

58 psi on a mech gauge located about a foot from the throttle body.

New temp sensor corresponds within a few degrees of my IR gun, instead of 30ish too low.

Removed vacuum from the HEI dizzy and set it at about 10° BTC @700 RPM in park and at 200°-210°F coolant temp.

Plugged the vacuum advance back in, and tried both ported and unported vacuum feeds. Runs terrible on tip in. Runs worse on "mash" in. Played with timing adjustments both ways. Couldn't get it to clear up. Was constantly adjusting the throttle set screw to stay within 3-10 IAC steps at hot neutral idle fans off. (Fans on bumps idle and therefore bumps IAC steps)

Finally pulled Vacuum altogether from the dizzy and drove it.

Now I can stand on it without it falling flat on its face. Still has a slight hesitation, but only slight. Kept a 2010ish F-150 at bay for the most part...

Just can't decide where my issue is. Something isn't playing, and short of just bombing this thing with new parts I just don't know what to do...

I fought run issues for a while with my efi system for a while. Then found that the O2 sensor wasn’t allowing any self learning. O2 sensor was bad, not bad enough to throw codes, but bad enough to prevent learning.

How does the spray pattern look at the injectors?
The Fitech has a fuel dispersion system unlike a GM TBI or anything else I've seen, the injector is internal and fuel enters the barrels via multiple tiny little ports surrounding the throttle plate. All I can say is it is consistent between the barrels.
Have you reset fitech yet?
I have reset the entire unit previously, and reset fuel trims and IAC learn and TPS learn since the ECT change.

All these little problems are going to make that FI just that much sweeter when you get it sorted. Keep documenting that crap so when I get around to doing mine I have a good road map.:waytogo:

There’s a youtube channel called Nashville early bronco or something like that. He seems to have his fitech figured out pretty good. Might be worth checking out?
