Got home late but wanted to try something...

Fired up the Jolly Green Giant and hooked one side of the jumper cables up battery neg to alternator case, and now the fitech read 14.5-14.6 with the fans off.

Confirmation of my issues and now I know for sure what I need to do to take care of things...

Thank you guys for all of your input!!!

Glad you found it! Some times it doesn't make sense! I worked on a Cadillac, that the entire intake manifold, didn't have a good ground to the engine block. Messed up the readings for all sensors mounted to the intake!

Good neighbors with deep tool cribs are priceless.

I don’t think you’ll be breaking the end off of that that tie rod anytime soon.

No, tacked twice then short runs on opposite sides back and forth until it was done.

Same setup I used when I built the tie rod in my F150 and it’s held up fine. You’ve got one kick ass neighbor!

that's one of the things ruffstuff warned me about when welding those bungs, don't weld them all at once because it will distort the threads.

The threads stayed good on these, heim screwed all the way in with no resistance...

Survived another wheeling, uh, I mean rescue trip. Only minor rock rash:
