1991 Chevy Crew Cab "R" / "V" Conversion

Wow, your wife did all the work :)
Looks good, are you gonna paint it grey ?

She helped alot! She said I was trying to kill her though...
Not sure about color yet, I really like they way they look with the flat yellow'ish color with blacked out wheels and misc parts, kind of like this.

Long time, no update.... Been busy but I do have some updates.

Had to do some of the small maintenance stuff like changing radiator, heater core and thermostat. Then I decided I was going to try to install these!!!

I was able to get a good deal on some ProComp wheels that i felt actually looked decent. I had a hard time finding any 20" wheel that I liked.... Took them all down to my brothers work (Firestone Service Center) and got them mounted. I added 12oz of airsoft bb's to help balance them and this is what they look like next to my 37" MTR's with my helpers.

Swapped to some 56" Chevy leaf springs (running 7 leafs) and built a 1" zero rate to move the axle some, the axle is now 1.25" forward of stock and I have about 5" of front lift. Did a little trimming to the fenders and wheel wells and it looks like the rubbing will be minimal.

I'm I see this wrong? Or does it look like on the pass side spring perch, where your top plate is, the spring pack might not thick enough. Look like your plate is tilted and not engaging completely on the spring. This happened to me and had to make a spacer to take up the room until I got new springs. In this picture you can see my spring pack was not thick enough.

Yeaaaah were gonna need more pictures of that.

I will get some more pics when my steering arm spacer comes in this week. My crossover drag link is very close to the top of the main leaf.

Isn't it kind of top heavy with that giant service box?

Not as much as you would think. Its all alum and empty it only weighs about 200lbs more then the steel bed. You do certainly know it's back there but the biggest draw back is visibility. I need bigger mirrors....

It's kind of hard to see in the pic but there is a tapered shim under the spring plate. I have one above and below the leafs in the passenger side (facing opposite directions) so I don't have any problems with the studs that hold the spring plate down.

I say paint that whole truck and box on the back desert tan....would be bitchin!

Photobucked ruined yet another good thread.. Just found this. Looked interesting.

I'm slowly adding back the photos to this thread!

Also I have started with my 5.9l Cummins swap! I picked up a 1997 Ram 2500 4x4 with a Cummins and a NV4500, I pulled the engine out of it and have been collecting parts and cleaning the engine up. This weekend I was able to lay down two layers of Cummins beige on the block! Now i need to finish painting some of the smaller stuff and start assembly. The goal is to try and get this thing in the truck by the end of February....

I have also been keeping a very detailed list of parts that I have purchased for this swap that hopefully can help out someone in the future.

Thanks for starting to add the photos back to the thread! Did you dill the holes for the tensioner on the alternator bracket? Would like to see that if you could. Also, what is the part number for your AC delete pully? I've been looking for one. Thanks!

I did drill the alt. support arm for the tensioner, i will try to get a photo of it tonight but I basically held the tensioner up there and marked where it looked good... I got the idea from this guy Link about half way down the page there is a photo of it.

Also here is the A/C bypass pulley I used, the material looks kind of cheap but it should be fine. Also I replaced the hardware with some higher grade bolts and lock washers.

keeping the GM NP205 behind the dodge NV4500? If so, swapping inputs to 29 spline on the 205?

I thought heavily about doing the Cummins in my V3500, but decided against it and have gone 8.1
