The ole man (Norm) and I went to the junkyard out by him, and removed a few things I was looking for and a couple other items for the diesel guys.
We got kicked out at 5, and I didn't get everything I wanted, so another trip is already in the works.
We got the Hydroboost system off the K5 Diesel, but didn't get to the brake pedal assy.
Also clammed onto 6' of standed copper battery cable...the crossover between the batteries on a diesel.
Picked up some F*RD shocktowers
And a couple Jeep steering shafts.
Now these two are identical...one came off of a 7/94 model Cherokee, and the other off a 5/93 model Grand Cherokee. both have the flat on the upper shaft opening, so I'll have to grind a flat onto the steering shaft on the 77 K5.
Brett was asking about a round fuel filter from a Diesel...found one on a late 70's truck in the yard, anything you can use Brett?:
And AJ was asking about the air intake ductwork....found on the same truck, will this work AJ?:

Also wanted to get the radiator, and rad. support, but didnt have time. If I put a 82 support in my 77, do I have to change fenders too?

Any chance it still had the bracket piece actually attached to the core support? On the inside of the engine bay, I already have the round "hat" on the outside.

Hey AJ, I'll look around some more on the next trip over there. I know there is at least 4 diesels in there, I just have to find em again.

Other than the rusty brackets, its in pretty good shape....there is a couple holes where the plastic was rubbing on something....
So to complete this intake ductwork, you only need the bracket piece on the engine side of the rad. support?

Better than the cobbled together setup I have now. Electrical tape can probably fix that. Either that or plastic welding.

Holds the tube to the firewall and the back of the intake "hat".
If you can't get it, no biggie. You've just moved me 85% farther to completion than I was before. Also, I have time. I can get it from you when I come up for Big Ugly in a few months.

Changing radiator supports
If I change my 77 radiator support to the 82, can I still run my 77 fenders/grille headlights etc?

Is that a half track crane? Cool.
Does that mounting bracket for the h-boost resevior bolt up to a SBC as well as a 6.2? I have that resevior and I am trying to figure out how to mount it.

That is a half track, that someone cut the pass side windshield off for the crane to lay down on.
I'm going to play with the parts I have to see if I can run the remote reservoir with the serpentine pump I have. Then I can get my system vent higher up.
I got a 2WD steering box from an 85 today, for the oring line setup, and looked at the Hydro P/S pump I got, and the pump I got with the serp kit. I think I can bolt up the Hydro pump to the serp brackets, and make that work, which will be good because that pump has the extra port on it for the hydroboost return line. I think I will plan on mounting the reservoir up on the inner fender somewhere, where it will be out of any high water crossings, therefore keeping contaminants out of the system.
i bolted up a 79 old style line pump to my serp belt brackets. only diffrence was the non metric bolts used in 79.
still going strong today. as long as the tank thickness in not thicker than the one you remove from the serp bracket it should bolt in just fine.
dont forget you need a pulley puller and installer to swap them on the serp belt bracket stuff.

I see there is a couple strategically placed bolts with Torx heads on them for the serp P/S pump now....Never pulled a P/S pulley off before....any special tricks....I have a gear puller, and a balancer puller, which I'm guessing aren't the right tool for the job?
you need a p/s pulley puller and installer tool kit.
autozone has cheep oem brand ones . i have one and use it a lot. hold up good. just dont use impact on it. or you will trash it.

and the torx heads you see are studs in the block/heads. thay are inverted torx bit like a socket. you can also get a set of them at the local parts store. and thay have regular hex nuts on them.
and you have to remove the pulley first . then the bolts for the pump. then the hidden bolt behind pump holding bracket on the block.

I bought an 82 K5 diesel with a blown engine. I converted it over to gas. Installed a 406 sb. I kept the hydro-boost and the big fuel filter on the firewall. The way I got around the issue of the PS pump was to just use the SBC one and to get a Y hose fitting and run both return lines into one. Ive been running it like this for 2 years and haven't had any problems at all. If you have any other questions let me know.
I picked up a 85 diesel cooling system today....radiator, shroud, and 7 blade fan/clutch. the radiator isn't much good, but I thought I would use it for mockup onto my radiator support (77). If I can make it all work, I'll get this one re-cored, or replace....
So where to get a new radiator?
I think a stock replacement diesel radiator will work fine, as it is about 30% larger than the stock BBC radiator.

I forget who but someone on here recommended some place that sold radiators at great prices. All metal, no plastic tanks.
