Got the dizzy hook up straight now, and in addition to the above listed needs, I just need to run a source hotwire from the battery to the pushbutton starter switch, then to the solenoid right?
My solenoid has the two small terminals on it, Field and start. I assume I only need to hook up to the Start terminal with a pushbutton fed wire?

I've been working on the cooling system to figure out how to adapt an 82 Diesel radiator to fit a 77-79 radiator support. The older supports are taller I think than the 81+ models, and I need to widen the opening about 6", to allow full exposure to the cooling fins. Problem is the vertical structure support is right where I need to widen it. That vertical support goes down to the body mount location. Maybe some holes drilled in the support to provide some airflow to the hidden part of the radiator as it sits now?
This is the diesel fan and shroud also, fits good on the BBC.
Damn thats a big ass radiator.
Well this is all going to sit a couple more weeks now, I'm headed to Maine in the AM for about 2 weeks of R&R on the bike. Should be a blast. Going through IN, OH, PA, NY, VT, NH, and into ME.
Going to try to go up Mt. Washington depending on the weather forcast for Saturday. That should be cool (literally) hope its a clear day.

All you've spent so far and you're not going with some high zoot aluminum rad? Really, what's another $700-1000 at this point?

Yeah no kidding.....aluminum radiators are great, they make your truck (and your wallet) a LOT lighter!!!

Im just kinda suprised he doesnt have electric fans yet...

I got 45$ into that setup on there right now....and its basically a mockup to see how it works. Aluminum isn't out of the question either, and yes electric will make it on there someday, probably right after my first water crossing
I just felt like getting this system on to get it up and running and that will be an upgrade for the future....um yeah thats the ticket.
So keep in mind, this is still in the mockup stage.

I have 2 extra sets of windstar fans. 20 bucks and one of em is yours. Should push plenty of CFM to keep that BB cool. Keeps my SB at 140-150 most of the time.

I vote aluminum, no sense in changing what you don't have to. Direct fit replacement, drop it in hook it up and go.
Now if you adapt the bigger radiator I don't think I would worry about cooling holes or anything. Most of the airflow is where the fan is pulling air anyway. I don't think a couple holes in the core support is going to make much difference in your setup. With the windstar fans it might because they will cover more area than a single mechanical fan.

I'm selling one to folkenheath, you can have the other one. I'll be in kzoo djing a wedding this saturday. But not sure if I'll have time to meet up or not, plus Id like to keep all parts away from my 4000 bucks worth of equipment.
Yeah, ok you guys got me again....Aluminum does make more sense. This mockup would need rebuilding at a minimum, if not replacement all together. And no fab needed for a drop in replacement as Eric mentioned.
That includes stock replacement hoses too!

I'm sure the becool is sweet... it should be, they charge enough from what I remember...
