Before I can decide what I want to do with a doubler support crossmember(s) I felt I needed to trial fit the anti-wrap bar and rear truss backbone from DIY4X to make sure I wouldn't be putting a crossmember in where the antiwrap bar crossmember needs to go.

Are those links hooked to anything in that photo or just a photo for documentation sake?
This was my first trial fit Kert before I talked with you. It was just to see where the crossmember for the shackle would end up in relation to my crossmember for the doubler.
I didn't get a chance to tweak yet, as we talked about on Saturday. Dad and I worked on the crossmember and cradle some more for the doubler. Got some different stuff coming for this I think.

So your dad helps you out, very cool! I`m jealous, my dad has passed away 10 years ago.

He's gonna be 80 this year Max, and I know one day we won't be able to do this, so I want to get him involved while he's heathly enough to.
When I was growing up, I used to hang out in the garage and bug him, now its the other way around,:D. He digs coming over and hangin' out and building junk with me. He's really into this rig, as all he's ever messed with is Jeeps, and certainly not modified them much beyond stock stuff.

Been building brackets, and square tubing for the doubler setup;

4 more brackets then weld it up tomorrow I hope.

I'll be cutting these out at work tonight.

Made these up over the weekend:

Thats awesome. :waytogo:

I read a phrase a while back that said, spend most of your free time with people over 70, and under 10, and it just makes sense. So for me its my Dad, my Mom, and my Grandaughter.

I made a little more progress on the rear crossmember and mounting flanges.

I have 3/16" 6X6 plates to weld into the frame rails for each crossmember support.

Those will be mounting plates for the crossmember/cradle links to bolt to. Each of those plates has 4 nuts welded to the back of them, and the plate itself is tapped with 1/2x13 threads to match the nuts on the back side. This will give plenty of fastener support.

This is what I got done today:

Finished trial fitting the rear crossmember and cradle support tabs, tacked them into place, then removed everything for bench welding, drilling and tapping holes.

Thanks Super....I had some welder gun issues while welding today, but other than that, I just need more hours in the shop.

If it's going to hang from the big spring eye type bushings why not solid mount the cradle to the t-case adapters?

I'm just going overkill on the flexible mounting here. I know if anything breaks it will be the transmission case, so a little extra poly mounting is a little more insurance. When installed, the poly shock mounts between the cradle and the t/c's compress to about 3/8". They are a little softer than the poly bushings in the crossmember/cradle links.

Outstanding workmanship.

I've seen much better, but I figure the more I pull the trigger on the welding gun, the better I'll get at it :waytogo:

That is nice! I wish I could fab and weld like that. Keep up the good work.

Thansk Toner....Dude my fab skills are zilch....I haven't done much fab myself. I have gained enough confidence and ideas from a lot of other stuff going on in this site, to make a stab at it myself. I'm learning alot going through this build, and I probably wouldn't have taken it to this level without the knowledge and sharing of this site. So many helpful people here.
It takes me quite a while to get to where I want with usually a couple major changes along the way, but I'm happy with the results so far.

Just keep plugging away at it.

Well I think your fab skills are looking really dam fine!!

Soon you will be like RYOKEN.

Thanks, but honestly, I couldn't dream of what he can do!

That would be a dream right there!
Those guys turn out some trick pieces when they have the opportunity.
Water jet cut brackets and such would be pretty cool.
