No worries I get what your saying, in neutral I mean that the chassis reacts less to forces under breaking, also the a/s goes up as the suspension compresses.
So I was cleaning up the front axle to prep it for welding and trussing, this morning I swapped some brakes on the wife's 92 and found these kritters in the bottom on the trash and this happened..
I have a big problem with them as they undermine some of my trees and my feed storage along with creating hazards for my horses.. So they are kill on site creature.
Oven degreaser, purple power, kerosene and a power washer. I used to do it that was but it was to time consuming. For the varmints I have good luck with a 5 gal bucket halfway filled with water and bird seed, and a 2x4 for a ramp.
Your the second person who told me purple power.. Time to get sum and try it. Haven't heard kerosene. And don't have a power washer.
For now it's damn close, I'd say 98% so I'll do the rest by hand so it's ready. Then Dave can tig weld his magic.. 4130 here we come.
Not sure sched 40 PVC is going to hold up on those links?? I got some buddies who say I need to upgrade to sched 80??
Any suggestions? Home depot isn't anywhere near JV so I figured I could carry two spares considering they are pretty light. Tractor supply also has heavy duty forged heims on sale I might use those also.
Metal likes to be clean before you weld it. Get a flap disc and a wire wheel on an angle grinder. You need to be down to the raw material. There is always a slight coating on steel stock and if not there will be a layer of oxidation. If those welds were decent, you wouldn't want that plate sitting on wood. How much gas are you running?
Try practicing vertical ups and other odd positions that will better represent what you'll be doing on your truck.
With the amount of splatter, that is most likely flux core. If you have a 110v unit that is good to use flux for the heavier stuff. Also if you plan on welding your suspension stuff, I would be practicing multi pass techniques.
Also make sure you are beveling all your brackets/ pieces of metal.
Yea it's a Lincoln 100 110 with flux core .035, the metal isn't prepped. The baby was sleeping and I wanted to practice some welding that's why I didn't bevel the edges or clean the scale off.
I'll tell you what. I'll clean it up this week and show you the best welds I can do and post them up for analysis. I have a friend that was going to loan me a miller 221 when I was ready. I'm not used to using flux not a small welder, I was taught on a 100% duty cycle miller (not sure of the model).
