Did some work last night,
Made the rear crossbar, or might have wasted tube, depending on how it turns out.
I really didn't want another bolt in cross brace, I wanted to run my V bar braces to this. I also wanted to be able to pull the motor and work on it with no obstructions but provide the support the back of the hoops needed.
The cage will tie into the outside of the hoops from the firewall. I am not concerned with it compressing the rear because it is braced by the firewall.. Or will be welded to it.
I don't know if I will leave it like that but it was an experiment.
This is how beadlocks and sore hands start.. 36 bolts and washers, the correct ring...
And 30 mins later walla! Damn these are a pita but damn they're pretty..
I wasn't worried so much with the forces it was the room the flanges occupy, but I didn't thing to use what you posted.. I could do that and have it be pretty.
Yea.. your right.. this kind of what I was going for.. I need to add some bracing for the shocks.. I think ill try to make something like this.. it is really hard because the hoops are asymmetrical.
this might have to be a mix of plate and tube to work.. well see. this would be bolt in so I could remove it all at once with just a few bolts.
I thought your cage will be coming through just below the A pillar. It would be way easier to tie into that after you tie the main cage to the engine cage. Bars relatively in the same plane without bends will be more efficient and more aesthetically pleasing.
