Thanks @beags86
To answer those questions, heads are low mile and I don't see a need to rebuild them, porting if done by me is not out of the question.. I do all my own two strokes and they have way crazier port entries than this does, so getting what I want should be a simpler process.. Know what to cut is another deal completely..

Onto some stuff..
Word of the day. ****... Say it with me..
I got the other head off, removed the damper and oil pan etc.. Found this in the bottom of the pan!

I want to think its a freeze plug, but from where?? That's the scary part.. Soo now what??
image.jpeg This is water that fell into the pan when I removed the intake and heads. Some silver in the bottom.. Mind you this is a 5k mile motor so the oil has been changed a bunch considering the mileage..

Ok this was weird.. I've never seen a motor where the pads on the rods where rounded, supposedly the guy balanced and blueprinted the motor for my dad in the 90s.. It makes awesome oil pressure and does not vibrate..

Couldn't find jack online about this cam, it's 444 or 443 lift for both lobes

Double roller, no idea who tcc is either..

So give it to me straight is this a pile or do I have something to work with??

Talked to my Machinist today about the possibility of decking the block to correct the squish/deck height. He said to run it, .051 is close enough to .045 that I might not see or feel the change, also said the cam I was eyeballing should be fine as well, didn't seem to think the goal was a bad one and completely reasonable to spin it to 6k+ with the parts that are in it.. that made me happy to hear. Now I just need to get cleaning and order the cam lifters and springs.

Can I tap them without dissasembly? I have not planned to remove the crank or Pistons..

Oh and I'm gonna give porting these heads a shot.. Worst case I'll do a little cleanup and port match the intake and polish the exhaust ports.

If I remove crank I'll build a 377 outa the 400 a buddy has.. But then id have to pull a second mortgage to build it right..

Funny you sat this. I was actually going to PM you a 377 build that I thought would work well. I think high rev 377 would be awesome in this.

weird seeing this thread turn toward motor work....... :haha:
. Your telling me, I thought it would be suspension forever... Glad to change the pace some..

So I could get that 400, but it's been sitting for a long time, heads off etc I haven't pulled the crank to check the bearings or anything. I guess I could give it a quick once over and see if I could maybe do a quick and dirty, like rip it apart ball hone it and scrub it really good, put new rings and bearings in it.. Or go the 377 route, I don't know if they make bearing spacers to stick the 350 crank in a 400 and I'd have to balance it then.... I think I would at least.. Hmmmmmmmm

Sounds like you need to at evaluate that 400... No replacement for displacement!!
