80 Jimmy - The Monkey Paw (Time to finish interior)

Idea with this was to build it robust, and simple, and utilitarian. KISS principal.
Not my finest work, but it will do, under seam sealer and some Herculiner. Got them all solid and prepped for Herculiner tomorrow morning.

Now, for a question. Someone, somewhere along the line of this trucks history ran the wires for the t-case across the floor and through the hole of the t-case shifter. Where is that wire really supposed to run through?

It runs under the truck on the driver's side next to the trans. In fact I believe there is a bolt on wire holder on one of the bellhousing bolts that holds it

Where does it cross through the firewall - is the grommet for it alone or was it shared w/ something?

Are you starting at the butt crack of dawn to get the Herculiner done before it heats up?

Just from what I see in pics you need to do alot more prep to get bedliner to stick and to last. I had least 15 hrs start to finish prepping my inside and damn it seems to have bonded Great. I wiped some weatherstrip glue off last night with brake clean since 3m was not working and only glue came up. I was impressed.

Hopefully you bedlining goes as planned for you.

Didn't get up at the crack of dawn, needed more sleep. Gonna start here soon. Had a 'cold' front move in and shouldn't get frying pan hot today or tomorrow.

Think prep will be ok. I emailed herculiner, 2xs on questions and I'll have to say they responded pretty quick. But they preferred to not be on bare metal and to prime it first. May do another wipedown w/ xylene one more time. The paint that was in there was fairly textured already, no clear coat on any of that, so the scuff pad did give it some more tooth. We'll see that happens. I've got new carpet to go over the top of this. I wanted it more for water proofness than any real toughness. Pretty sure a leak someplace allowed water to sit there and caused the rust problems.

looks rolled on am I correct? Glad you got it done.

Yeah, that comes in a kit w/ a couple of rollers and paint brush. Lots of solids in it. Bottom 2+" of the can was solid 'grit' think they use rubber chunks or something.

This might be next summers project for mine. What was your impression?

Looks good. I used one gallon + part of a qt for the entire floor on a 74.
Has held up well.
I went over fresh primer.
Definetly need good ventilation while doing this.

Was a huge mess, keeps lots of gloves handy. Still not dried so I can't say for sure yet. Went on pretty thick, but 2 coats was still needed. Does smell, but I was outside, didnt't bother me at all. The xylene I used to wipe down the interior was worse. TONS of 'chunks' in it, will be full of traction. Seems to do a decent job of hiding your sins.

Kept my mixer for a couple of years just the way it was when I used it.

One day I just threw it out.

So no more going to Church on Sunday if I use this stuff?
Seems a little sacrilege and helpful all at once
