'81 K5, "BlaZeus"- How to NOT build the ultimate budget K5; 3 & 4 link build

That's awesome! I like the way it looks in the pics! No offense but it has that dark and dingy kind of look to it. Makes me feel like something awesome will develop in there.

Just read through your build thread, I'm excited to see the front clip finished, but I might be a little biased towards it anyway.

At least this place has lights......Any 220 volt hook ups?
Hahaha no kidding!
Yes 2 places for 220V. Both on 30A breakers. 1 for compressor, which is plumbed all the way around the shop with a 30 gal auxiliary tank and 1 for welder/plasma cutter :thumb:

Haha thanks! Yeah it's the back of an old airplane hangar from WWII! There has already been some awesome rigs built in this shop by the previous tenent(my current landlord) so I'm just hoping to continue on the tradition!

Bahaha I've been waiting for you to comment....:dunno::bow: You gonna make it to BB16???

might need bigger breakers for compressor and plasma only time will tell if they start to trip. I run 50 amp breaker for my outlet. Cool work space though.

Getting work done. Opened the diff cover to check and make sure that the gears were 4.88. They are in great condition as well. Now I'll CAD some new axle brackets for the 3 link and have my buddy cut them out on his plasma CAM table.
Now I gotta clean up all the gear oil that didn't make it into the pan...

De-bracketing/shaving the new front axle for a clean slate for the new 3 link brackets....and potentially...wait... what's that I hear.....a front axle truss...????! Whaaaa?!?!:dunno::whistle::D
Man...having a plasma makes me actually enjoy cutting everything up again...and we all remember what happened last time....:o:1zhelp:

I would get those shocks out of there or wrapped in tin foil if you are doing any welding at all. Even tack welds, splatter could get to them and ruin seals real quick.

Exactly. Which is why they were only on there for setting ride height and lower Coilover mount axle position as I had to make sure the DS coil clears the steering shaft.

Got all tabs tacked up and the panhard axle mount tacked on as well. Cycling to check for binding. At driver side full droop, the coilover to steering shaft clearance may be an issue.....so when I redo the engine cage, going to make a custom gear box mounting.

You are probably going to regret mounting that bender so close to the wall......

BTDT.

I was going to say...

Ive never had a bender but i could imagine its well worth it times a million to get it rigged up hydraulic on a rolling stand so you can put it where ever.
