'91 K5 Four Wheel Camper

This is the build for my 1991 V1500 Blazer, AKA the K5.3. It started out life being sold to the U.S. Government with a 350 TBI/700r4/241 combo. 4 years with a 5.3/700r4 Combo and now moving to an 8.1L Vortec and NV4500 5-speed.
Probably not doing any type of frame swap but reinforcing what I have......and I have all year to do it. Lol
All the more reason I considered the idea of selling my drivetrain. It's no fun wheeling without Larry, might as well upgrade mine at the same time.

The MEFI4 harness is out of the truck. I took my time to note where everything goes and how it was routed.

With the engine bay empty, I'm going to take the time to re-route some items and tie them up better. Next project is to disassemble the rest of the dash to pull the brake pedal assembly in preparation for the new clutch and brake pedal set.

This is GREATLY appreciated!!!
I had to cut a couple of wires that went into the stock harness deep but should be no issue to integrate into your truck. There was an incident on the ground wires from the ECM that need to be on one of the bellhousing bolts. When Bill was backing out the nut on the stud to remove the ground wire the ring terminal spun with the nut and got knotted up. We ended up having to cut those wires too. Pretty simple fix though.

Nice! Thank you. Do you think it will be ready by next weekend? Its supposed to be 115 here so Ill be happy to get out of town. Even if it means driving 2000 miles in 3 days hahaha.

It's ready. I do have to work Saturday until 1, but will be available the rest of the weekend. We have the engine on a short rolling stand to make it easy to move and tie down in the truck too. The rest should pack in there easy. Bring ratchet straps!

Ha I will bring plenty of straps. Ill send you a PM later in the week so we can communicate without clogging up your thread.

It's pretty cool to drop off the clutch/brake pedal assembly to Larry on Sunday for cleanup and a rebuild and pick it up fresh and clean 4 days later. Big thanks to Larry for killing it as usual.
Before:
After:

The wear spot on the pin for the clutch master cylinder pushrod is fixed, fresh pedal bushings, a trip through the bead blaster, and Van Sickle semi-gloss black.

Time to pull the vacuum booster, steering column, and auto brake pedal box. The change to three-pedals begins this weekend.

Mike is on the way. Got some other goodies going his way too. Good thing my son is coming down so he can help lift the heavy stuff.

Time to order parts!

Is @Atl-atl helping shoe in the 8.1/4500?

or was I not supposed to let him know yet?
Haha...Nah the 8.1 is over at Larry's place. Plus I got stuff to do before we shoehorn it in there. It will be easier with the engine out for sure.

The plan is getting all the tedious little projects done here and only having to focus on the engine install at Larry's.

The 5.3/700r4 are on the way to their new home with Mike. He got a couple of other stowaways on the ride too.
In discussions earlier this week about what transfer case to use we talked about using a 205. I told him I had one. Then we talked about putting a manual trans, which I also have. So now he's got a choice but he has both with him to choose from.

Pretty cool to know he's going to put the stuff to good use. Thanks again for coming up Mike. Good to meet you in person.
