So my son came by when he got off from work. (3 blocks away! :D )
And he had bumper brackets! So we did a quick test using clamps to hold it on the frame, then installed the visor!!
:saweet:
So I didn't get much else done, but I got to hang with the kid, and see what he has been working on!
And this bumper design is thanks to @LNielson

That is looking great Dave. As you can see, the sides were left plenty long, I trimmed a bunch off the width when i fit up the wings.

Very cool to see another one of these come to life.

Yes sir! We were discussing where we will end up on the ends. He hasn't cut the wings yet, and I told him to wait until we play with some cardboard first. I also plan on trimming the fenders first, I want to look at options.
He had to cut it into the 3 sections on order to get the 70* bend on top. No one here could do it in one piece. But no big problem!

Oh! And my wife volunteered to drive up to ORD and pick up parts for me!!!
So I will get some parts delivered by a cute brunette that won't glare at me for checking her out!!!!
:pimp:

:rotfl:

That sounds like a great arrangement.

I’ll look and see what drawings i have for the wings as built and send them tomorrow

So @Bent77 is waiting for me to post up that......
It...

RUNS!!!!!!!!!
I got the power steering and trans coolers mounted up front, and all of the hoses are going through the radiator support with grommets. The reservoir is mounted with a new suction line to compensate for its new home.
I had to do a little testing to confirm which port was the cooler output on the trans, which lead me to rework some stuff, but all good for now.
I had to swap the oil pressure sender, since I didn't know that I had one for a light ANYWHERE in my stash, well it ended up in this engine. Turn the key on, and the gauge pegs! :doah:
Pull the distributor now, before I set the timing...
Fixed...
I feel friggin' lucky that I have only had 2 leaks so far! I had to tighten the return fuel line at the throttle body, and the clamp at the thermostat housing. Of course, I probably just jinxed it...
Right now it has the chip from the old '72 K5, which doesn't have TCC output, but I haven't finished the rear axle spring pads yet, so I haven't done the brake system either. This means that I have no idea if this trans works yet.
Now, I gotta make a list of what's next...
And get MORE work done....

Nice install brother

And I vote to clear coat the steering parts...
The USA on the tie rod is neat! I wish that it was right side up, but the way that I have it, puts the grease zerks to the back for protection.

Oh, yeah. I guess that I should tell what I did. Since the front axle is moved ahead, I couldn't run the high steer. So I decided to go with a 1.5" tie rod to try and help out with any rookie moments. I then got a new steering arm and pitman arm to use ORD tie rod ends and have it all match.

You should be fine with the 1.5" tie rod. I hit the one on my F150 pretty hard last weekend and just a gash but no bend. Engine install looks great!

A little update. I have been working on it somewhat steadily, but I seem to move slowly.
I have all four shocks mounted, with modified ferd towers for the front upper. I got the passenger side a little close to the evaporator case and had to unbolt the mount from the frame to put the bolt in for the shock...
:doah:
But I still am slightly below what ORD said for ride height, but oh well. Somebody told me to quit overthinking and get stuff done. :D
14" travel shocks up front, just 11" in the rear.

I got the tailpipe and muffler hangers on, rear quarter panels trimmed, and the brake system put together. I just need to bleed it.
I got a new mount mad for the assist ram, but I didn't get my brain into how the lines will go as I was anxious to see hear it run again.
AND IT MOVES!!!!!
I must have part of the doubler in low, as I got 3rd gear in the yard. Not much speed...(no brakes) but the transmission seems to work! I was worried since it had sat for so long. No I just have to hope that heat cycles show the same results.
I got the front bumper mounts tacked on, but I left it for this week.
I did put the nose back together, cuz I wanted to see if the grille fit after I moved the horns forward to clear the coolers.

Just feeling the time crunch ....

Clearly, this now the best truck you own. Guess it's time to part ways with that pink truck, since you will no longer need it. I'll send a semi to fetch it from ya...
Well, I would POSSIBLY consider it if you brought enough cash!
:D
I am glad that you like this one too!

Where did you originally drag up that 79 frame your using for this?
I got it in a partial trade for labor from a buddy. His old '79 had spent some time in ORD's shop years ago, so it had the 700R4 and doubler, the rear shackle flip and steering box brace already done. It had shock towers on it before, but I have the 1" body lift , which let me move them up a bit. Since it had some good stuff on it, and way less rust than the original one for the '90, here I am...

I borrowed it from a slacker who wasn't using it. I think that it was from a GM crate trans.
