PLAN B

This build was 2 parts 1 i have a truck I made to pretty to wheel so I'm building an ugly one I can actually enjoy. And 2. My cousin has been trying to join us for blazer bash but his truck wont be ready so we are surprising him with this one
Question on the ord crossmember, it says to have the vehicle level with even air pressure in tires... i have my little trailer tires on the front, thats not going to screw me up right? i imagine they are more worried about side to side being uneven vs front to back right? part of me was tempted to lift the truck and put my giant jack stands under the frame so my suspension would drop and i would have the most room to work.
(btw i ordered all my mounts and the crossmember)

You got the idea

Yup more room the better
Cool I think if anything jacking the truck up and having the frame set directly on jackstands will likely make the frame as straight as possible.

any secrets to doing the engine mounts? do you think i could jack the motor up from the oil pan or should i try to use my engine hoist to hook onto something on the top? I definitely don't want to pull the throttle body to attach a lifting plate. (the only time i have ever done mounts the engine was out of the truck)

You are going to want to lift it from the top. The more space you have underneath the better. You can lift it from the front ie. the head bolt holes or something. The rear is still attached to the trans so it is not going to move. So you don't need to pick the whole thing up just lift a little and support it. You can also lift it from the intake bolts.

Watch the distributor on the fire wall when you lift it.

I made a cross bar for a buddy, so that he didn't have any more stuff in the way under the truck. No jack, or engine hoist legs. He used ratchet straps to the exhaust to lift the engine.
I made it out of square tube with a piece on each end to set on the flange of the fender. But you may not want to spend that much time getting rigged up.

yeah I'll just suck it up and throw the engine hoist on it.
any of you guys throw some white lithium grease on this style motor mount?
I figure they are like spring bushings and i imagine they would squeak if you didn't put something on them.

i am targeting the weekend of oct 5th- 8th to do this and hopefully fix the trans crossmember.(no GF of baby that weekend and its a bank holiday on monday) Depending on how the weekend goes i MAY take a stab at the a-bomb or at least trying to pull the front bumper off.

Finally found a picture online. Seems like it is considerably thicker than the stock bracket.... hope the factory hardware works.

I think I ended up leaving it out. I had read about others doing so as well because the extra bracket had mess up clearances. Not sure if it was a good or bad thing. I ran it like that for about a year before the "new" trans/tcase setup.

It needs to be there to apply pressure to the other pieces of metal inside the poly bushing. I asked the same thing forever ago and energy said it was necessary for long life and it to work properly.

ok cool i will plan on using it as designed. if i feel like the bolts are to short i will go get longer bolts.
I think i will be making a trip to the hardware store for other bolts anyways ;)

oh yeah back to the motor mounts. did you guys grease them when you installed them?

Energy suspension motor mounts need a shitload of grease and a 20 ton press. Yes I greased them. My diy4x mounts though got a dab. Went together like a dream.

I'm using the ORD mounts and crossmember. i would have done the DIY4X mounts but ORDs discount when buying with the crossmember ultimately won. i think on my other truck i may do the ORD mounts.

this was my understanding as well per the interwebs.
