PLAN B

This build was 2 parts 1 i have a truck I made to pretty to wheel so I'm building an ugly one I can actually enjoy. And 2. My cousin has been trying to join us for blazer bash but his truck wont be ready so we are surprising him with this one
I usually stand on a chair next to the tire when I work on mine, so the stinger isn’t in my way. It was a hindrance when I swapped engines though. Cherry picker boom was BARELY long enough to work. Had to kind of angle it.

For what its worth i like them too, I do enjoy the ones that dont make such huge stinger hoop profile, as in the one the yota has on. I cant always say what makes or breaks them, but they're either a 10/10 or a 1/10 for me.

second last bumper one is rad also. slim and stout looking.

I like having a stinger or something similar to help keep the radiator from getting crushed in a rollover. Decided that after I saw a guy end up on his lid on Hell's Revenge.

Before I had a tube bender, I had @cybrfire bend one for me.

Yup I am pretty sure i will have @cybrfire bend me the stinger (there is no way the bender i have access to can make that bend) and i may see what he can do to clone that grey rear bumper. I found out it's an ORD rear bumper but "they don't do rear bumpers anymore" .

on the blue truck? That's a chassis unlimited bumper.

Stingers are soooo 90's :rotfl:

the rear bumper i want to copy is the grey one. the one on the blue truck is ok but i definitely like the grey bumper on the white-ish truck better. I emailed ORD and they confirmed its one of their old bumpers.

Free night! I had a few hours to kill so i swapped radiators in my 78 and took a couple mins to tinker with this truck.

Im adding one of my electric fans to this to aid my A/C and trans cooling when offroad. I am also upgrading to a larger plate style trans cooler. I started mocking that up.

I'll also hopefully be throwing the big 4 core radiator that i just took out of my other truck into this truck soon. It's freshly rebuilt and the one in this truck has a small leak. Why let it go to waste or spend money fixing or replacing my factory one.

Theory builder time!
So i have a ton of stuff running off my battery, i plan to add one of these 4 post distribution blocks and switch everything except my winch, alternator and starter off the battery.... seems cleaner, and an easy way to add things.

I was also thinking of adding a 200 amp relay and adding a distribution block with 12 outlets and wiring that for switched or "key" power. Seems like these trucks need more places to tap into switched power for accessories... i can then hook all my aftermarket stuff up to the two different blocks. Keeps everything off the stock wiring and makes tapping into switched or fulltime power a ton easier.

That’s a great idea. And those distribution blocks are nice. You do a have a lot running to your battery now and cleaning that up will make it better and safer.

If you frequent the pick n pull lots you can find similar distribution bars in 90s Chevy pickups. CUCV Chevys have them too. Not that I have anything against new and shiny. :D

This is what happens when @ashman gives me shit about having a ton of wires running off my battery....

One thing leads to another....

Let operation clean up/ upgrade my wiring begin! Oh and heated o2 sensor not pictured ;)

That'll work..... still more clean up to do but its a good start.
New battery is nice and should be able to power the winch and fan appropriately.

Next two projects are installing the 140amp alternator and the heated o2 sensor
Yes i know the wiring for the 200amp relay looks funky... it's what i had to do to make it work.

Did a little trading of parts today and got some non tinted rear glass and nice sliders for the hard top. Once i find replacement clips and install them my back passengers should get a nice breeze... if i ever have rear passengers ;)

I wanted non tinted glass because the factory dot style tint is hard to see out of and it wont match when i tint the windows. But why tint the windows on your offroad truck? 1. Keep the heat out. 2. Keep uv rays out (skin cancer and my fam = no good) 3. It will hold the back window together when i blow it out next time. Should be less to vacuum. (Figured I'd answer the questions before people ask)
