PLAN B

This build was 2 parts 1 i have a truck I made to pretty to wheel so I'm building an ugly one I can actually enjoy. And 2. My cousin has been trying to join us for blazer bash but his truck wont be ready so we are surprising him with this one
And i think i got a decent cut line considering my power windows are fully functional

Oh and i need opinions/ info
Should i use a 2x4, 2x6, or 2×8 steel tube for my sides? Also should it be flush or stick out a little? If it sticks out how far? .5", 1", 2"? All this info will help as i start cutting

I used 2x4 3/16 wall. I really don't think you need 1/4 wall.

Doing it again, specific to what you are doing I would do 2x6 3/16 wall. I like the slider on a rig such as yours to stick out past the widest point if the body.

I used 2x2 1/4 wall to mount my sliders though. Also plated the frame

Im curious about plating the frame. You have any pics of how you did that?

There was a time in my life when i could weld... RIP skills.....
I got my product today.
Next steps...measure, measure, measure.. cut... say "oh fuc*" measure... cut a little more and start welding this pig.

With today's prices that's like 800 bucks of steel!!!!

Excited for progress

Yeah it wasnt cheap. It wasnt 800 luckily. Hopefully i figure out the angles and i dont waste much.

The nice thing about what your doing is you cut the body and get that all squared away first. Then add the supports.

So you can tack the slider to the body and get the angles perfect

Just a wagon, doing wagon things
Sometimes with my wagon friends ...

Yes thats the plan and i have those massive stands that should be able to hold these sliders in place while i tack things up.

Im hoping this goes smoothly i cant wait to start driving it around post project

I had one of those wagons, then the trans started going... then the timing belt went... then it went to the scrap yard..
Yeah.... you have to keep up on maintenance on these things or they get expensive. They are not as forgiving as our chevy trucks
