Project "RESPAWN" - 1972 K5 Blazer

Cool stuff here!
I know right.

I think that it appeared because you polished it.......

If this is the case,

DO NOT TELL YOUR WIFE ABOUT THIS!

The women will not let us men live it down!!!!!

Maybe the wife ran the trash can down the door...
Are you married yet? When was/is that happeneding?

I wouldn't think a trash can could make a crease like that, a scratch yes but a crease? Besides that, kerry was with me in Vegas, we came back and there it was. Getting married next year or so.

Well I didn't know that you weren't married, but cool to know that you have some big plans !

Well, adjusted the drivers door one last time and as luck would have it, striped one of the nuts in the door, had a feeling that would happen taking the door off and on about a hundred times. Don't think it's a big deal as there are 2 other bolts holding that hinge and it's the lower one, but would like to fix eventually. What would be the best way to fix, run a tap through it and see if it will clean up?

Always try that first. But Greg has a point...

And that point is?

That's what I thought, I can do that before paint but not sure how I would get the plate out and a new one welded in, doesn't look like there is enough room?

On a happier note, got the horn working. :pimp:

No, when I bought it the PO had put a larger radiator in so the horn bracket was in the way and he just took it off and threw it in the console. lol I just cut the horn bracket down so it would fit again, plugged it in and now horn.

Steve,

You can't cut new threads into a stripped hole.... it's already too large.

The best you can do is figure out the existing thread size, then drill and tap a new fine-thread hole one size large and buy a bolt to match....

But since that's not "stock"... you would need to cut an access hole from the inside of that A-pillar and carefully drill out the welds that hold the cagenut assembly and remove it. You can then repair that thread properly (and in the proper thread size) and weld it back in place.

I have some details here that show what the plate looks like. (post 119)

'72 K5 - Greg's "Might As Well™" Build - !!! THE 2-BAY TANGO... !!!

If you read a few posts on either side of that, you will see where you have to cut for access as well.

I can't remember if it's possible, but can you just put a nut on the inside of the door? I know that isn't correct, but lots less hassle. Are you going to pull that bolt ever again? I would make that the deciding factor.
