Project "RESPAWN" - 1972 K5 Blazer

Cool stuff here!
My 72 Jimmy is down in Larkspur, I will check it out this Sunday.

How do they compare for the front legs / mounts?

I don’t think Blazers ever came with only two rear legs ( my 72 has 4) and usually if the seat is from a different application the tubular front legs and brackets to hold it to the floor are substantially different. Armrests sometimes look odd and can be a giveaway too.

Front legs on both the 70 and 72 are the exact same. I have seen a few other 72's with only two rear legs so they are out there just rare I guess.

Oh, another thing, I looked over the 70 seat really good and were the legs bolt to the seat there is a welded on bracket with welded on nuts that the leg bolts to, I then looked at the 72 seat to make sure someone didn't just unbolt the center 2 legs and it appears there was never any center brackets.

My '74, which uses what I swear is the same seat, has just the two legs each front and rear, and then the seatbelts bolt in the middle two rear positions, if that makes sense.

Yeah, in 73 and up there are only 2 legs but the seat is different and the front mounting is also different, it's square on the sides instead of rounded like a first gen.

Any idea if there was a Highlander type option for the GMC Jimmys?

I believe the highlander was only for Chevy but not sure if GMC had something similar or not.

Interesting. I've long suspected that my '72 was really a '71 because of a few minor differences, but I've never really bothered to find out. My rear seat not matching what you are finding adds to the suspicion.

Keep in mind that 72 still had rear seats with all four legs, I think Chevy was transitioning to using only 2 legs latter in the 72 model year, probably why the highlanders are only two as that package was a mid year thing.

Ash, where does your rear view mirror mount? IIRC, 69-71, was on the windshield frame. 72 was on the actual windshield.

That would make sense then. Mine is a CST, but maybe also an early one. I didn't even know about the highlander package.

I've also modified my rear seat so that it folds forward now too, so no chance of looking it over either.

Well, mine is such a mishmash of parts at this point it's hard to know. My mirror mounts to the windshield frame, but the frame is a transplant and I don't remember for sure if it mounted to the windshield before or not. I think it did though.

What made me suspect I don't have a '72 is the frame horns. I believe '72 had the frame horns on the front and the back, but my frame only has them on the front. It could have been cut at some point, but if so, the cuts were done very well because it looks factory to me. I haven't bothered to go looking for the VIN on the frame to confirm because frankly it doesn't matter to me, but it's something I'm curious about occasionally.

I thought you were putting a hot tub back there and ditching the seat....

No, cost to much to heat the water.

Mine is a 70 and the frame has the mark but doesn't seem to have ever been used just a glues on windshield mount so maybe not all of them?

What the frick, replaced the parking light that was out, keep in mind that I had the front clip off so maybe something came loose in that process, maybe a short somewhere, anyway, when I turn the left turn signal on with the parking lights "on" I get the following.

When I turn the left turn signal on with the parking lights "off" I get the following.

Same thing happens when the right turn signal is on, the rear turn signals work correctly.

Seems standard issue to me...

My 79 did that before I forced a change, and my 2000 S-10 does it too
