Richard's Funky Fire Truck

Oh, and your other question. They are 16 inch rims. Ideally I'd get some hub caps and spray paint. Realistically if I come across a deal on rims and tires, I'll take it.

I don't wanna be a naysayer but lifted trucks and big tires don't make good plow trucks. It might be advantageous to stick with a more moderate approach.

I think the plow is only one aspect. I think Rich has a pretty solid plan for a well rounded vehicle that will suit the way he intends to use it.

Rich, a long time ago when Martin asked if you were going to paint it, i think he meant, are you going to paint the bed red to match the rest of the truck? I think that would be bad ass! Leave the truck as is, and then just paint the bed red!

Everybody in holton plows with there lifted chevy:dunno: seems to work. I dont think it'd be a hassle using a lifted truck for plowing for personal use. If i was plowing a route for income i wouldnt want to use a lifted truck on 37"s. My .02

Ya good point guys. For just personal use I guess a lift would still work fine for plowing.

That is exactly what I meant.

For $20-$50 for a set of steel wheels, why would you not buy 16.5" wheels and run the readily available Hummer take off tires???

I don't often see steel 16.5 chevy wheels popping up here.

There is a guy selling ozs but he wants $100 a tire. To me, that's a lot for tires that are really old. The bajas and mtrs still are expensive most places online and I'd need shipping.

When I was looking online I couldn't believe people are still asking $100 apiece for the original hummer tires.

I'm only looking to plow what I consider a long driveway. I don't think this truck will be any bigger than sweetk30's plow truck which he posted about earlier.

If everything worked out (and you could wait) I could potentially pick up a set of hummer take offs from Feltz Tire in Marshfield WI, then bring them to the hillbilly dune party. But you would have to wait until July, obviously

Rich might be picking some stuff up for me. I still need to grab those fenders from you, so maybe I could grab them and the tires and take em out to him. We'll meet him somewhere lol

Look for old trucks sitting around. I have several sets of the GM 16.5" wheels. They go for next to nothing. Try asking on those stupid Facebook pages.

Lol, this could work out. Iola Wisconsin has the midwest's largest automotive swap meet in early July. Marshfield (where Fetz's is) is only like 2 towns away from there. So if I end up going to Iola this year, I could try and bring back a set of tires. My dad was talking about potentially pulling a small single axle trailer with him to the next swap meet

Send a PM if you end up going to either Marshfield or Iola. That's coming toward my neck of the woods! :thumb:

I do have six 16.5" chevy wheels (from '78 & '79) that I am not planning to use. They even have rubber on them. And I may be able to deliver them to Marshfield/Iola if this crazy scheme comes to pass... :dunno:

Nope, talking to you. Wanted to see if they had the safety bead or not.

Bad news: The wheels are down in Iowa, along with a bunch of other truck parts that people want. Like the 6-lug wheels and Mitch's gear set. And one of the support braces for my clutch/brake pedal set.

Good news: The holidays are coming, and I should be able to get pictures before the end of the year.

In the meanwhile, I may be able to answer your question from memory. But I'm not even sure what the safety beads are. :dunno:

Care to explain?
