The new master cylinder showed up, and I finally was able to drive the truck after being down for 5 days. The new trans and clutch is awesome, and it wasn't long before I put the truck to work.

I drove it a couple hundred miles before I pulled a trailer, thats all South Bend recommends for a break in period. The 4500 has the same gear splits as the getrag I pulled out,and with the governor spring the split between gears isn't really bad at all. I never really noticed how much noise the getrag made when towing until I pulled this trailer with the 4500. The new trans is quiet and smooth, I think the old one had rocks in it....

I need a Southbend box to show up at my house. Is it a CON-OFE? That's what I'm planning on ordering when mine slips so bad I can't take it anymore.

The rear lift is a 3" block. I was worried about axle wrap being an issue, but the spring packs are so thick that it doesn't wrap or hop at all.

The south bend clutch is a CON-OFE and is awesome. It has very positive engagement but is not too aggressive

So for a little bit of an update, I just moved 1800 miles from Phoenix to Aberdeen, SD. I used the truck to tow my blazer ( which was packed full of extra parts and gear), and my quad. I had a chance to scale the truck and trailer and it weighed just shy of 22,000 lbs. I maintained 70 mph the entire trip ( except for a few mountain passes) and averaged between 12 mpg and 15 mpg.

So are you jumping on the oil field bandwagon in SD? I was reading a thread about a big company hiring up there over on Pirate a while back.

Quite a few things prompted my move, this has been in the works for the last couple of years.

I grew up in SD, and straight out of high school I went to WyoTech ad then took a job in Arizona as a fabricator building hot rods, customs, and show cars and trucks. I had a ton of great opportunities while I was there, including 8 trips to the SEMA show, magazine coverage, and not to mention the awesome Arizona wheeling.

During that time, the economy also tanked, so it was harder to make money, and I also met my wife and had 2 kids. I always knew that I didn't want to put my kids in school in az. The population, drug problems, crime, and immigration issues in az are something I didn't want my kids to grow up around.

Also during that time, the economy in the Midwest was booming. Some due to oil and some due to agriculture. Both of those industries are crazy right now. My family has been involved in agriculture for over a century, and my dad owns about 2000 acres of farm land and pasture. I decided to come back home and help run the family operation, and its not too far off before my dad retires and i take it over anyway.

I'd be all over that. If my family still had their big dairy farm in Stephenville, Tx there's a good chance I wouldn't be here in California.
