The restoration/modification of Daisy.

I sure wish my Nikon was working right now so I could upload some high-res photos. iPhone photos aren't cutting it IMO. I've got a bunch of **** cut off the frame and stripped the steering box area to bare metal again. I've been staring at it for almost an hour and I'm still it entirely sure its a crack. Looks more like a gouge of some kind. I think i'll just get the weld in kit anyway to be sure.

[edit] my friend came over, he's a fabricator and does roller coaster inspections on the side. he says its cracked and he's gonna weld in the frame patch for me next weekend. we're also gonna try to get my dana 60 hubs machined down asap so i can throw it under the truck and get the steering done. can't do upper shock mounts til the steering box/shaft are in.[edit]

I hope you're drilling and welding it before you put in the patch.

Yep. They're already drilled and ground out. Ready for parts to show up and get welded.

Just saw this cool thread. Had to subscribe. You are now my 500th subscribed thread. What you are doing I want to do to my '76 Blazer. Inspiring.

damn, i think i'm subscribed to 5-10 threads, lol! half of them are probably 10yrs old. thanks man, i get discouraged that its taking so long. "inspiring" is good to hear!

You can subscribe w/o email notification.

Then they just pop up as unread subscribed in your Control Panel.

I thought thats how everyone read around here....

i know, i just never had a use for subscriptions. on every forum i'm on i jus cruise through the forums, if i lose track of a thread, oh well, it'll come back eventually.

i pulled the front axle and stock upper shackle hangers today. started to open up the holes in the frame and the drill died. :frown1: i guess 10yrs is enough for an old makita cordless. i found a chisel in my toolbox that takes care of the frame rivets in no time. i cut into them with a cutoff wheel and then hit this thing with a hammer 4-5 times per rivet and they're gone.

so with the drill dead, work on the suburban stopped for the day and i decided to put my quad together to finally sell it... until i broke a bolt off in the frame. ive got all kinds of extraction tools, at work... so i guess i'm done working on the quad too. came inside, took a shower and now i'm sitting on the couch with my dogs. the wife and i are going to my parent's house for dinner, its about 2mi from my shop so i'l swing by and get some tools and finish this **** tomorrow. i also found some music that i like. i've always got my phone plugged into the stereo in my garage, either itunes or pandora playing. Neil Young came up on pandora, ive heard of him but never listened to his music. turns out some of it is pretty damn good, so i bough a few songs on itunes.
