SpeedlabDan submitted a new Build:

My new tow pig 3+3

Since my K5 is spiraling out of control... I needs a tow pig! Super strait and solid (fist size rot hole in the driver rocker) 6" suspension lift and 3"body lift "supposedly". Dana 60/70ff. 400sbc, leaky th400 and np205/203? 38" super swamped boggers.

nice buy. Looks like it has a 205 transfer case which may be the synchro version being an 84. Either way, pretty desirable parts on that truck.

that round chrome shifter handle for t-case is np205 part time case . not a np203 full time.

so you should be good .

looks good and clean hope its not a bondo bucket being in pa . as some of pa still use lots of salt in the winter time.

front bumper gap looks like 3" body lift to me . i would ditch it and go 1" if anything if your plans are to lower the truck a bit for tow rig duty .

I definitely want to lose the body gap. It looks like my np205 but it does have the big cover without the press Olin bearing cap so I thought maybe a synchro? I'm not sure even how to tell the full difference but once I get it home I can dig in

I can't believe it's so solid body wise but I'll dig in I'm sure there's something but it was from Colorado

I don't recall if it it had the bulge but I did notice it did not have a pressed in bearing cup that can be seen from the outside. It's a solid cover that's why I thought maybe it's a synchronized case. It looks like a 205 to me but again I'll clean all the gunk off when I drag it back home. Thanks for the input though!

I'd skip the 6.0 with it going to be a tow rig. Not sure how it is out that way but with any kind of hills/mtns out west here you are pinned wide open with one of those. I'd go big block or diesel if you can swing it. Otherwise I love it. Lifted crew cab 4x4 duallies are bad ass! Mines 2x4 with a big block and a man tranny. 20171008_172459.jpg

It was originally a 454 truck but I have to disagree with the 6.0 vs big block. If you compare power stock vs stock the new 6.0 will out perform the 454 but maybe not the 8.1... I dunno I don't have the hills as much in jersey but a diesel is intriguing

Around here you don't really have the hills like you said. I do think however that even with the 6.0 you will be working the motor more than you think.

i have towed a big load with both 6.0 and 8.1

go 8.1 if gas motor as its almost a 100% bolt in .

if diesel go cummins.

All good points. I have to get the thing home 400miles and go through it. The 400sbc runs but not well it's been sitting a year or more so in sure the entire fuel system needs help. The th400 is also puking fluid from the dip stick and it wouldn't move till it was warmed up a while. I'd like to overdrive this truck for longer hauls that's why I was considering the 6.0/4l80 combo. It's gotta be reliable above all said n done

Looks like my Macs tiedowns won't ship till Friday so it looks like I'm not goin to get my truck this weekend. :sign19:
