Yeah, I got that. Someone mentioned early in the thread that 1979 was the last year, but it was actually 1980. I probably should have quoted the comment.

from a guy who tow's for a living that middle strap is useless almost and will have a short life span .

tie the axles down and let the suspension work .

if you tie down the frame it will bang and tear stuff apart and possible loose a chain / strap / or tow point .

other wise looking good .

and glad to see you got it from the snow home it was in .

Yea that mid strap was just a little reassurance for lateral movement. It was negative 18 when I pulled out n I was worried about the frozen rubber sliding off the side but it did well even though the tow points in the front were so close to the axle I had to go over the cab mounts (I know another no no) but it was super stable it was just hairy towing in the snow when at the top end of the truck and trailers capacity

that strap wont do that ether .

to control side to side shift you need to X the straps or chains .

running a rollback tow truck you learn this real quick in the slick winter months . at least 1 end gets X patterned so the vehicle wont slide around hardly at all .

good to see you trying tho and getting good straps .

most peoples idea's of tie down points and equipment scare the hell out of me on the road .
