Just use stock gear reduction starter for mid 90's-newer . Same part # on 350 to 8.1 .
Yea I’m not sure what they sent me but I ordered the correct oneJust use stock gear reduction starter for mid 90's-newer . Same part # on 350 to 8.1 .
Pros and cons of putting springs back on the hood hinges with this old fiberglass hood:
Pros: no mor prop rod, the curve in the reveal is pulled down even with the fender
Cons: I can’t close the hood without getting on the step I use to work on the engine.
Take away, anyone ever heard of lighter springs available???

Thought about that similar to billet hinges on the market but I don’t know if they travel from a positive to negative tension throughout the arc of travel. Can you adapt some struts to work and get rid of the spring?
Oh that would be great if you still have the part numberI got some springs from my local hardware store. I think I have a couple more that I can get the part # from. They hold the hood up as long as there's no breeze from the rear.
I’d say the hood is at least half the weight. Now it is a beat up old hood that I suspect is reinforced but already somewhat damaged from previous use with springs and that s why the reveal is curvedWhat kind of weight difference is there between stock and this one?
Does your fiberglass have any internal reinforcements?

Oh that would be great if you still have the part number
Love that truckI'll see if I can dig them up shortly.
When I got my truck, the stock springs were employed and they were bowing the hood. I removed them and ran spring-less for about 10 years. Then a couple years ago I installed the lightweight springs. I recently realized that the hood is not bowed anymore. It happened slowly over time, I don't know if it was a 2 year fix or a 10 year fix, lol.
