Damn that truck looks good!
Thanks I’m hoping to tackle my first paint job on it this fall if I can get the body strait enough for a low buck gloss black and 2K clear. Pretty stoked
Then I should feel great, still kind of managing after 18 months with no pay.
But now I have no savings left and my credit cards are maxed. :doah:
yea I went back to work cards are high and I have zero savings

Tentatively planning on painting in the spring. The fiberglass hood had a mean curve that wouldn’t lay flat. This Amd hood is nice with out the style line on the front for the 79/80. Also ordered the stiffeners.
The radiator is a 4row duramax replacement that needs a pressure tank and I had to did a coolant tee for the lower rad hose. I’ll be fabricating mounts for the stock hangers on the rad to the rad support using hdpe plastic

Finished up the mount points for the radiator today. Of course the Chinese radiator has one mount that is not square so I can’t tighten it. I’ll have to figure out wedge or something.

Picked up so ‘84 6.2 diesel upper and lower rad hoses to fit these 1.75” rad ports. I ordered a brass tee to clamp in the lower rad hose for the pressure tank utilizing “t-bolt clamps”.

I need a 1.75” thermostat housing that exits at 90 degrees and the best I could find was a Philadelphia speed brand on summit for $100!

I’ll also have to run my heater hose to the other port on the big block water pump as this radiator doesn’t have a port for the heater return.

-10 am 120deg ends on order and I’ll make some new trans lines to get this wrapped up

Under side of the hood is painted.

Welp it’s in with the exception of the one -10 line that decided to leak under pressure. Made a mount for the dip stick that will change eventually when I upgrade the belt accessory drive for ac with vintage air some day:surepal:

I’d just like to add how much work and parts go into this radiator swap from a duramax. Ridiculous.

Ps sorry I haven’t been super active on here as usual. Life’s been life-ing

Steering shaft and a fresh box make a big difference. I think the biggest upgrade is crossover but it's a bunch more parts.

For street driving, I personally don't think crossover provides much benefit. The push-pull works great if the angles are good and the joints are tight. Imho, of course.

I used to think that too.

I wouldn't swap his brand new box out for a 2wd one and crossover at this point, but I noticed big differences between the 2 styles of steering on my trucks.

See, that's why I don't think there's much to gain on the street. My truck with crossover steers very nicely on the street, there's no arguing that. But my couple trucks with push-pull and lifted the same amount also drive very nicely on the street. There's really no difference that I can feel. My best driving (overall) truck actually has the push-pull steering.

Yea I’ve gon back n forth I do love my crossover on my k5 but I like the sway bar on this for towing though I do believe it’s overrated

prob more the bar system . my west coast ones on my 02 work truck make noise .
Tan som silicone around the edge and the rubber grommets and it’s better but they still make a bunch of whistlin racket. I don’t remember them doing it before the truck burned
