You can see the holes in the tank match up with holes in the frame. I think it looks cleaner when it doesn't have straps.Straps are stock on the tank. Do you just not like them? I'm curious.
How the heck do you get at the back bolt on that style distributor cap to remove it? I got three of the four off on mine, but the back one is right up on the firewall and I can't get my hand and screwdriver back there to undo it. Do you have to pull the plug wires off the cap to get at it?Had some time to burn, so I went out to the shop and pulled all the old plugs, wires, distributor, radiator, and thermostat. It's been a while since I've seen an old stat like that. All needs to be replaced. I have a hei I need to throw some new parts at and drop in too. Hope all the ignition parts clears up the horrible lack of power and rev.

Pretty sure I saw that conversation this morning, and if you are Jake and that guy was Greg, then it is in fact @Greg72 over here, with the "Might As Well™" Build. My right rear leaf spring is broken in places. Going to try and find a set of later model rear springs to replace mine with. A guy on one of the fb pages I follow said they fit and ride a bit better too.
Are you a Greg Blanchette too?I'm a Greg...
Oh....HAHA!...that question was rhetorical. But I appreciate the answer.

If you're referring to the hei cap, you just turn it it access the last clamp/screw. Small screw driver usually works well too.How the heck do you get at the back bolt on that style distributor cap to remove it? Thanks Yeah it has some rust and needs to be completely gone through. I just want a fun driver I can beat on and not worry about messing up too badly. Hope to have it road worthy in the near future.Thanks. I actually managed to get it today by using a long (3") flat head bit and some channel locks attached to it. That got me the angle I needed. Finally got my motor out and didn't have to worry about breaking that cap off!
Looking forward to your build. Not a ton of rust on it, but it's definitely going to take some work!
