if people are in the back with no helmates.
helmates, cell mates, i'd rather not be in the back with any of them.
As for your truck cutting out, is some of Adam's K5 issue rubbing off on yours? Did the maiden get to close and catch something?
the maiden looks good in the sand! looks like a fun time all around.
thanks man!Looks like a fun time Dave, sorry to hear they wouldn't let Luke back in, bummer. It seems like saturday afternoon is when they are the strictest. That's when I got checked for noise on the way in, and that's when they blocked my friend for noise several times now, it's when you leave and try to get back in.

Thats what i said when we bogged out on the way up test lol. But when he got bac and matted it, there seemed to be no problems
Man your choking it! ha ha. It's pretty obvious when you hit the rev limiter of a 6AL, that telltale stuttering miss and sudden loss of power. Sometimes those rev limiters will engage 100 - 300 RPM early if the RPM is swinging up real fast. Its different when I hit the rev limiter with the EFI, no miss, just all the sudden nothing, it's like the engine suddenly quit for a moment, then roars back to life a split second later when the RPM drops back down enough.this one is a Petronix unit, it does the random cylinder drop to control the rpm. works well, except I think it may have something to do with the cutting out of the ignition after it hits it.
yeah 5K should keep it safe.
the top end should be good for 6-6500, but the bottom end is cast, and 5500 is all my machinist recommended for that.
My cam is engineered for 1600-6000, but torque drops below 500lb ft. by 5000rpm.

so basically you should chip it at 5500 - 5700, but you are cutting it off around 4800 instead, wuss![]()
. I've got a pretty similar set-up with the cast crankI know guys that do it at the drags, run cast 454's to 6K, seem to hold up ok, I don't remember anyone scattering their junk on the track...I've got mine at 5900, and the machinist that helped me told me to put it at 6500. I've got a pretty similar set-up with the cast crank
We'll see about that, I haven't had a chance to beat on it to see how 6000 sounds

Excellent outcomewent for a ride down the road to see how the hydro assist would feel at higher tire pressure, where the death wobble used to get really bad....drove dam good actually. need to tweak the tuning on the steering box a bit, but it was actually well behaved on the road at 50-60mph.
NOOOOOOOO. I should dial it to limit at 5K, which is what I did...I read the instructions and didn't listen to internet advice...
But in this case there was no instructions except your machinist said 5500, and you chose 5000, which means your useable RPM is probably cutoff around 4800 and you are cutting yourself short. There is no reason that engine can't take 6k. I would chip it at 56 or 57. Yeah, your torque drops off, of course, its higher RPM, but where is your peak HP? I bet its above 4800, and what shift point does your average power become the highest, because it's not just where you shift, but what it drops down to after you shift. I have a cast crank too
