So last trip out I broke the crap out of the rear shock mounts. Quite literally sheared the toon in half. Really long span that was unsupported. This is what I get I suppose for building the temp shock hoops as easy as possible.. more wasted tube and time..

I added these uprights and will add a tie into my frame on the outer hoop sometime this week so it cannot go anywhere..77914351-2DB5-4195-ACF7-3C91C17B2BA2.jpeg

Then I cross braced the hoop and rebuilt the floor stuff which was a major pita, the tube was bent up, and not having the bender here meant I could not just cut all this out and start fresh.. I also did not have much tube, so I did what I could with the stuff I had.
I did have a bunch or short 1.25 chromoly left from when I did the steering. So I cut stubs for all the splices and joined up the new floor tube with those. I actually went up to 1.75 because of the misalignment of the bends, so I sort of stepped it up from 1.25 to 1.5 then to 1.75 with the sleeves and then welded the fillets on the inside so all the tubes have penetrated welds. I’ll go back and fill that in prob later. This also allowed me damn near 360 welds on them also.

You can see here the repair we did out at Matt’s house when I broke it. Those are staying because that is 1/4 plate and I doubt it will break again in that location.
Now that this is solid as hell.. I thought about moving the cantilever up in here so I can get to the shocks easy.. I have to firewall the fuel cell so it wouldn’t be too hard to close it all in. Plus would be cool to look at anyway.. lol

I am confused to what broke. You never had that bottom bar running all the way to the b pillar?

That bar had been in there for a while but the shocks were never mounted to it nor was it designed to have a load besides the seats on it.. I prob never posted pics of that set of bars because it was something I did right before it left my buddies shop.

So we took Lucy out.. god knows I needed it...
Momma drove it around and fully approves. Bubbs thinks it is too loud, of course it is.. which I hope to resolve shortly.
Then I hit the jumps out at the local spot. Pretty much built this just to treat it like a dirt bike.. today was that day and I couldn’t have asked for a better showing. Here’s some screenshots until I upload the vids.

Until I link it I won’t be hitting the big jump.. for now. We had fun, I gave 5 marines rides to show my thanks and they all laughed and had a good time.. it was a good day.. everyone is beat and tired but it was worth the trip out and thank god Lucy didn’t break.. zero issues all day.. 80+ degrees..
