'81 K5, "BlaZeus"- How to NOT build the ultimate budget K5; 3 & 4 link build

It starts!!! However, there's no fuel getting to the carb...any body have any tips on getting an electric fuel pump to prime the system?

Make sure gravity is feeding the pump. Electric pumps suck at sucking fuel. :)

Other simple things... fuel filter going the right direction? lines clear of junk? kink in the line? pump inlet/outlet backwards?

Don't know where you mounted the pump but as said above, electric pumps don't suck well. Pump should be below fuel level in an ideal world, mounted close to the tank and fed with big lines.

Put your air hose in the tank and seal the opening with a rag and give it a really fast shot of air while the pump is running, you are looking to put a few pounds of positive pressure in the tank only and push some fuel to the pump. Once it has fuel it may just keep it's prime and be fine.

Got it! The outlet peice of the pump came out of its place and so I pushed it back in and worked great! Now it will run for a little while and then die... One fuel line had a small drip from it so I will replace that and see what happens.

On another note, & I don't think it's related?, but the cable going from carb linkage down to the trans broke. Is this easy to replace or can I use a connection to extend it the 2" back to the throttle linkage?

EDIT: Nvm. Did some research and apparently I don't need the kick down cable?

This time around, I am soldering all the electrical connections I can, instead of butt connectors and splices, as shoddy electrical connections were my biggest issue after the last build.
Got the radiator and fans mounted and wiring for fans done.

Got my very first ever matching spare today. image.jpeg
It's been well over a year since I ordered this custom long travel front drive shaft off eBay. Been in the box since I received it. Never even opened...lol.

Opened and revealed a very high quality drive line.

it's been over a year since I have had a front drive shaft in this truck. I am stoked to use the 4x again!

Thanks Curtis Tatton from Tatton's in Murray, Utah. It seems very heavy duty, was all greased up and very easy to install!

The checklist. A lot of the big stuff is done! Almost there!!

I love the use of the list. I always seem to add more than subtract though...

Yeah, crossing off stuff is very satisfying.
Lol yup. That's why I have a "needs" side and "wants" side. I had to make a list! There was so much to do that I couldn't think straight and knew that if I didn't note everything down that I would forget to do something...I also needed to plan for stuff I needed to order to make sure it made it in time.

Tatton's is right up the street from me. Always heard good things about them.

Why does my Blazer idle so high at first start up and then for a lot of time after? Could it be from the electronic choke? It just takes forever for it to take the choke off and have it run normal,,,
