Just got back from a long weekend in the mountains. Just a camping trip with my sis and her hubby. They have a decent trailer but it’s not something to go off road with. The truck they pull it with couldn’t hang off road with the 20” Bridgestones gm out on it.
We came down to Buena Vista and went up and over cottonwood pass to the Taylor reservoir area. Temps were low 80’s to high 70’s. I had planned on hitting the Dorchester campground up at the north end of the Taylor river valley.
I took the drone up to get some practice. Amazing views.
Looking back at camp.
Next morning I got up just before sunrise and watched fog fill in the valley from the south as it crept up to the north.
You can see the difference in the fog over the next couple pics.
During the fog some free range cows came wandering threw the meadow across from us. My dog instantly went into the mode to go heard them up. Had to tell her no. She whined for 5 minutes but stayed with me.
We went fishing later and I managed to get skunked. My bil got 5. When a hawk swooped down and plucked a fish out of the water I knew my day was done.
Great view of the valley with the sun going down though.
Came back over cottonwood pass this morning after a great camp breakfast. Stopped at the top to get the pic at the summit sign.
Looking back west to the Taylor area.

Good little trip. Truck did great. The dog had a ball. Got some quality time in with my family with zero distractions. Totally worth it.
