PLAN B

This build was 2 parts 1 i have a truck I made to pretty to wheel so I'm building an ugly one I can actually enjoy. And 2. My cousin has been trying to join us for blazer bash but his truck wont be ready so we are surprising him with this one
lol i will mark it this time ;)
yeah everything seems to be working within specs.

I have so many options for fans and clutches laying around because of the issues i have been having with the other truck, i didn't realize that the hayden 2797 was the same severe duty fan clutch for both the 350 and the 454 from the 70s through the late 80s, I have one of those new in box i was considering throwing on this.

but... maybe i will take the "if it aint broke dont fix it" approach

I've been looking at switching mine to mechanical. If I do it will be the biggest fan with the most blades and a severe duty clutch so that would be my opinion. I think you would want that for the slow crawling stuff.

I do think it's interesting to note that my company truck ('08 2500HD with the 6.0L) runs 210 all the time. As long as it can hold that temp and it doesn't keep climbing, I wouldn't worry about it as much, especially this time of year.

Yeah 210 doesn't scare me, what raises and eyebrow for me is it goes from 190 to 210 when stopped at a light. (Less than a couple mins) but it never goes over the 210 mark.

I think i have a little fear in me from my other truck that will shoot from 200 to 220 + sitting at a light

There you go, put heater on high at the lights.

hahahaha there you go! Also I can have it on full blast while wheeling! ;)

Im really not stressing the temps in this truck just thinking out loud about possible improvements. the other truck its a full blown issue that i stress about.

I was more wondering about the loop of coolant flow. I've seen guys fight temp issues when they blocked ports going to the heater core #becauseracecar.

Put a loop instead of plugging the ports and good to go...

Wash the radiator and condenser and the whole cooling package out good at a carwash. If you can't get to it pull it apart and wash all the fins out. They get plugged with bugs and an amazing amount of dirt here in Utah. My wife's '08 Yukon XL was running hot towing and the radiator was extremely dirty and it's a soccer mom vehicle. I try to wash my radiators out through the grille every time I go to the carwash.

Yeah im going to try it i just wont tell these guys ;) i might even try the 7 blade fan just for kicks... i also have those windstar fans i could try... hmmmmm....:thinking::thinking::thinking:

You ever heard of the term analysis paralysis? Meaning you might be over thinking just a tad.

210 is pretty dang normal for any fuel injected gm v8. They want the engine running at that temp to be most efficient.

I can totally understand wanting to upgrade due to the higher loads for wheeling. So upgrading to big block/diesel radiator, shroud, clutch and fan will work just fine. You just need to get all the parts together. The BBC/diesel radiator has a different top plate and hold down brackets.

Oh yeah thats why i keep saying i am not worried about it but i would like to start looking into upgrades.

If i have parts sitting in boxes why not toss them on.( meaning the Severe duty fan clutch and 7 blade 454 w/ AC fan i have sitting in the garage)

I will state and stress this again.

I AM NOT WORRIED ABOUT 210 ON THIS VEHICLE. 210 IS RIGHT DEAD CENTER ON THE TEMP GAUGE AND IS A FINE DESIRABLE DRIVEABLE TEMPERATURE.

I WOULD LIKE TO START LOOKING INTO UPGRADES TO ALLEVIATE ANY ADDITIONAL STRESS I MAY CAUSE TO THE VEHICLE THROUGH VARIOUS MODIFICATIONS I HAVE AND WILL BE DOING IN THE FUTURE.

I REPEAT. 210 ON THIS VEHICLE IS A FINE TEMP AND I HAVE ZERO CONCERNS.

I just like to tinker...
