I'd wait until you get the maf in and your tac/throttle body sorted out. Once it's all good, do the reset.

Maf plays into the fuel trims since the fuel delivered is based on how much air is measured coming in.
Exactly why I'm replacing it especially with the nature of my issues. As far as the tb I'm not sure if I want to go back to the old tb/tac module as I'll have to rewire the harness again for that and it somewhat works for now. I also can't find an 01 tb yet/tac yet and I'm feeling a little stubborn as I spent around 400$ on the throttle body and tac module

I'm trying to find a tuner/harness guy right now. I've finalized my entire wiring project. I'm still not getting illumination at start-up. It's in closed loop all the time. So I know the truck is 100% correct. This leads me back to the o2s that I had to rewire under direction of Troy from Howell. I really don't want to drag this entire harness and trans controller back out.
With the exception of some rear window runners and programing of the dash settings there aren't many things I want to do with it at this point.

Just read this front to back, normally don’t get into a thread unless there’s a Cummins involved, but this is quite the build! Seems like the 8.1 is an absolute nightmare

It really isn't, it comes down to the errors made with the harness that are being fixed now(that I should have done from the git go) and most aren't using the Allison unless you cross reference the duramax swap guys. When I get the harness back I should be good with just needing to test dryive that the low range setting/map work and the computer gets all the correct signals. Fingers crossed I guess

I know the feeling! A few years back I did a fuel injection swap on my toyota crawler. Should have been a straight forward process. However, I only got half of the fuel injection harness cut at the firewall. I attempted to splice my carb harness with the hacked efi harness and scratched my head and read wiring schematics until my eyes bled. After about a year of trying to get it running I ripped the whole harness out and got a complete efi one installed and running in the same day. I still kick myself for not starting fresh sooner.

I hope you get your bugs sorted out! Wicked truck!

Thanks man! Yea hindsight is definitely 20/20 and I'm working on not being so hasty to finish. The donor engine was questionable when I got it bc I couldn't drive only fire it and the exhaust /brakes were missing so it was just a pull. This made me just want to fire it up an d run it in the dually to confirm but it's been hell since

Patience is one of those virtues that we all struggle with. :dunno: Especially when you are working on something cool.

What powdercoat is that? I've been curious if you could get anything close to chrome.

It's called "superchrome" and it was made by prismatic powders until yesterday. Before it's clear coated it's mirror finish but it absolutely will not hold up to uv. Supposedly this won't hold up either.

more than 1 powder coat supply house .my buddy who does powder coat uses these guys a lot . https://www.powderbuythepound.com/

but this i think is the best option unless you find them ultra rare chrome wheels or spend the mega bucks to get some chromed .
Yea unfortunately the "chrome" powder coats don't hold up to uv and weather anyhow. I have another set of original 16" wheels that I may see what it will cost to have chromed. Well see how outrageous it is

Just called Howell efi at an attempt to get an update... (they've had my harness 3months now)
Two weeks ago I was told 2 weeks for the second time. Today they can't give me a good estimate due to the builds ahead of me. :doah::poo:

There’s no excuse for that kind of run around.
