I should probably get some extguishers. I got nothing. If this happened at my place it would be a panic to get water especially in winter when a hose isn't readily available.

Yea our hose was there but not hooked up and in a panic she couldn't get it together. I'm not sure water would have put out a lead acid fire though
That was one of the reasons I put my batteries inside the k5 between the front seats.
I could always monitor it and it was no where near the flammables.
I haven't said this yet, but man I am so sorry to see this happen.
Especially after all the work you did to this truck.

Well I been Keepin this quiet since Wednesday, I found a new "bucket". 4k it's a '90 K30 single wheel. 454,th400,np205,60/14 Corp. Plow truck so the frame has surface rust but it's not too bad structurally. Rockers were replaced but could use some finishing. Heater ducting and dash are apart for mice nest removal. Hasn't run in two years but as usual "ran when parked"
Either way for 4k and it has everything I need to swap back. The fuel system is a carb run the stock rbi pumps through a regulator. I've had bad enough luck with fire I'll need to sort this out. Game on!

Call me crazy but I have thought really hard about putting a small fire surpression system in my truck along with a small bottle inside and the one outside on the tool box.
The battery in the driver compartment kinda makes me nervous too tho fwiw. But we are going to rebuild and now that I've already made most of the mistakes I should be able to come back stronger. Thanks though, most ppl that haven't built trucks before just don't understand. I get "it's just a truck" from ppl who don't get it and it's insulting. That's why I'm already back to rebuild

As for the truck, yes it's only a truck but the work you did to it is not the same thing.
I have lost my trucks that I put lots of time, effort and dollars into, and I was not happy about it, but eventually I moved on to other projects.
In my case I had to leave them behind when I came here and I was going to make arrangements for them to bring them here and I didn't have enough time so my dad said not to worry leave them at his house.
I come here and I soon got an email that they were in his way and he had to get rid of them, and since they were gas guzzlers all he could get for them was $350 each.
One was a frame off restored 73 blazer, and the other was a fully built and 4wd converted 1979 chevy conversion van with fresh pain and all new upholstery.
@SpeedlabDan Horrible experience, You have a great attitude. Donor looks great, hope no big surprises. The 96 7.3 would be a power stroke, and the ford axle would still be 8 on 6.5. Don't see any reason the 7.3 would go in a square, prob fit better than the big Cummins.

sitting here in the shop on a 40" tv monitor i am seeing things i dont like on that cab you might be missing .
right front cab / body mount frame work has rusted off section . . is that just dirt or extra seal sealer spray goop on the fire wall seam behind the dist ? there known for rust in this area i see a lot of decent trucks but this area is rotted out . all them rockers replaced and it looks like there tossed in there . the under side of the cab in a few places is not looking good with its level of rust .
i have lived and worked up here in the heavy rust belt and this truck looks like its more from up here than your area .
i know you miss the old truck but i would think hard before this one or look it over better if it was me . 4k can get you a decent body from out west with a LOT less rust and bad repair problems to deal with .

Yea I see all the issues too and then some. I went with this bc if you figure in all the fues block dash components and full interior I'd be well over 4k. Then I'd have to find a drivetrain and front clip. Trust me I'm learning from my mistakes. If I get this runnin I can drive it until I get my frame prepped and start the cab swap. I'm ahead of the came with a little cab support and a spit shine in the tunnel the floors are totally solid.
I'm a little bummed it's an edelbrock carb and still a fuel pump with a regulator. Was really hoping for the factory efi.... I know I said no more efi

last set of SRW 60 front hubs i sold i got almost 500 bucks for them .

This is true I kinda want to keep it single it would save a little work and they look really good with some tall skinny but I feel like it would be a disrespect to the dually lineage I'm trying to recreate
This build can go in any direction now I just want it to work
