Now kith...

I never had a rhino lined dash...

Came with a plow and new front fender wells. AR wheels are black powder coat. Have an entire back seat of Totes full of parts. Aluminum 4row radiator on the way as well as a fresh order of fluids/filters from amzoil. Assuming it runs...

I mean, if you really wanted a 3 speed auto, your best bet would probably be to find a first first gen setup with the 727. I had an 89 12 valve with that trans, took it on a few road trips. It had 3.07 gears and did a respectable 100 km/h on the highway, but that was still spinning pretty damn high

Yea I thin od is going to be a definite problem when I get that far

If you go with a Cummins and want overdrive. Your simplest is going to be running a 48RE like my 03 Dodge has. The only wires it has are for tc lockup and overdrive lockout. They’re a 727 torqueflight with an overdrive unit bolted on the back. So parts are plentiful and it can be built stupid strong.

Hood ornament survived. That's a sign. Thanks for all the love guys I'm already lookin for a cab. Maybe I'll make it a round eye. Fairly certain I'll be pulling the drivetrain to swap a 6bt/cummins/nv4500 if not for anything but simplicity. I'm really done with software.

You're recovering from this well, much faster than I have. Mine burnt to a crisp a year and a half ago, and I still haven't gotten back into wrenching. The whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth, and I needed some time off. I'm almost ready, though. Starting to get that itch again.

And definitely keep that hood ornament! I have my melted license plates hanging on the wall (can't really put them on another vehicle, since the plate numbers wouldn't match), but you could mount that ornament right onto the rebuilt truck.

Personally, I'd keep the soot look. It would make quite a conversation starter.

Would clear coat preserve the current appearance?

I should probably get some extguishers. I got nothing. If this happened at my place it would be a panic to get water especially in winter when a hose isn't readily available.

Everyone should always have extinguishers. It's just a good idea.

And, as we found out the hard way, they need to be easily accessible at the time of the fire, or they don't do much good. Really sucks watching a car go up in flames, knowing there's a fire extinguisher buried in there somewhere... :doah: :doah: :angry1: :angry1: :angry1:

I didn't want to get in a funk over this, if I started to ruminate on how much work and money I have into this it would cause a downward spiral. I already battle pretty serious depression. It was a good way to keep my head in check to start over. I have thought about keeping the smoke on the hood ornament so well see if I can preserve it.

I'd need to reach out to them to confirm feasibility of course

PCS makes good stuff. GM uses them for their ready to run crate motors and trans. All the same, I kindly place my vote for a primitive mechanical setup with a rowboat for a trans. It’s 180* from where you came, and a whole new adventure.

You can get the Magnum in a variety of different input spline counts.
+1

A Magnum will fit darned near anything!

As I said before, I haven't been overly successful at preventing that downward spiral, but I do know exactly what you're talking about. :doah: :1zhelp:

On side note I would like to say if any of us are in a like situation, God forbid. Don't open the hood. Opening the hood add O2 to the fire. shoot the extinguisher through the grill. After several squirts through the grill the hood can be opened and more squirts if necessary. If you have a 2 liter soda bottle with carbonated drink, and no fire extinguisher, shake the crap out the bottle with your thumb over the hole and spray the fire out. I personally had to do this one time when bed mattress I was hauling, in open pick up, caught on fire.
If you can find Halon get it, fantastic fire extinguishers.

So after measuring the spare th400 I have (23.25") that would have to be coupled throu a np208 adapter (2.5"ff) and a new input shaft for the magnum I'm still in the ball park of 4" short from where the Allison situates the transfer cases and cross members.
So to me I can make the stainless exhaust I custom made work. The cross members would have to move and drive shafts would need to be modified either way. So f@ck it. I don't need the doubler. I'll sell it I guess or mothball it for a future project.

Do you recall what you had to change to run it? Did the industrial injection work?
It was built by a guy that owns a performance diesel shop way back. Then a few other guys had it then me. It had been tuned and modified.
You could swap it for an automotive pump or just put it together and see how it does then do some swapping. My guess is pump and injectors might need changed to go from a set speed generator or pump engine to a variable use automotive setup.
