Little update on driveline parts availability for Allison transmission.
So I just got off the line with Dave at CA conversions and within the month an Allison output shaft housing machined for a different tail shaft that accepts the tone ring for the third and final vss/clutch speed sensor for the Allison 1000 will be available.
Previously the magnum under drive box was not compatible with the Allison as the only location for the vss was after the reduction and would cause the trans/tcm to “limp” when low range was engaged.
Advanced adapters makes a vss adapter but it adds a few inches to the driveline on top of the 6.25” of the magnum box.
The Allison tail shaft housing is already a weak point and even updated output housings are short on availability. Also why adding more length is a bad idea.
So this housing will hold a new output shaft for the trans as well as a press on tone ring that should be compatible with the magnum box thus solving my current issue of not being able to use the low ranges.
This is getting really expensive but promising
