Pump issues?

Not sure I have to check that out.Pump issues?
I have lots of those lists!Well my todo list just got really long..
So because I had carb issues it was running lean and enough so that it made some heat and melted through the trans modulator hose, the exhaust collector bolts on one side are gone, the other side about to fall off, and I tightened them right before I loaded it on the trailer.
When I had the carb apart I saw the goop in the modulator line and thought wtf is that.. well it was melted rubber that clogged the line!!
I broke a rear shock mount on the axle. Didn’t damage the shock magically!
The battery cable to the starter almost had all the insulation melted off!
I pulled a plug just to see if there was any indication of damage and there wasn’t but I am gonna do a compression check when I change plugs to tune it just to see where it’s at.
Freaking super lucky I didn’t blow it up and the trans.. I suppose the motor being bad running might have saved my trans..

Like this? How does one rip off a shock tab? Were your tabs made out of 18 gauge?

Yea I just had a dumbass moment, the oil definitely shows it ingested dirt with how black it was.. so that’ll get changed..Well now it sounds a lot better, sounds like it wants to idle now instead of sounding lazy, just need to turn the idle down some. The no vacuum leak and better timing gave it more life, although I am a little worried how much sand you pulled in that 3/8" hole. Next time you have to close the butterflies all the way to get it to idle you should check for a vacuum leak sooner, that was your red flag...
BTW, having no vacuum modulator line won't hurt your trans, the vacuum modulator just lowers pressure with vacuum for softer shifts at part throttle, so if you leave that line off it will just have full pressure all the time. In fact in a performance build if you don't care about firmer shifts down low you can try just leaving the line off and see how you like it. (Just remember to plug the hole)
I like to put all wires and hoses near the headers in that heat shield tubing thats made of an inner layer of high temp weave insulation and an outer layer of heat reflective foil like surface.
I thought you cut off the choke tower? Different carb?
