I really like those wheels, they look sweet. Blazer is looking awesome, I look forward to seeing that thing in action! :waytogo:
Thanks man!! Even sooner now!! Rear end is bolted up just need to mount shocks! The list gets shorter!!

@Bent77 it must have been magic tape.. stretchy kind

Why are you worried about the spring separation?

That’s nothing. My 57s would fan out like 6 inches.

I put a bunch of zip ties on it and wrapped it in electrical tape like 3 years ago and they have never moved, broke or stretched.

I’d run it as is though, you have a metal clamp on them they aren’t gonna separate more than that.

These are a lot thinner and bend easy when they are fanned like that, if I didn’t have delusions of selling the springs and shocks I would prob just send it.. lol but I don’t want to destroy the springs for no reason.

@TREA18 its not bad in the sense it will not work, it will just not optimal. The main issue is the main leaf is completely unsupported and will bend under torque, if the pack is at least touching itself it will have less of a chance because it’s supported by the other leaves.
The other problem is there is no spring pushing back at this far droop, that does nothing for the truck, no reseistance aside maybe a little shock damping and weight of the wheel and axle.. you need spring rate to keep the tires on the ground and hooked up, you need it to resist the motion, shock alone isn’t enough.. unless you have some huge 4.4 inch shock..
To make this stuff work you need a relatively smooth resistance curve, combined shock and spring and having a spike in the curve somewhere can make the truck unstable.. when the wheel is moving with no rate but has shock you’ll get this weird spike once the spring comes into play, it’ll be like this, nothing nothing nothing and then spikes 200in lb and ramps up from there.
Vs a coilover or properly setup leaf you get 100in lb or more just from the preload. You can run it at zero preload but the second that shock moves it has some spring rate, there is no dead zone.. dead zones can have weird oscillations etc.. sorry that’s the complex explanation.. but this boils down to what you are going to use the truck for?? If it’s just jumping or cruising around where either the truck is going somewhat slow or flying it doesn’t have much of an effect, it’s when you start to cycle it very quickly like whoops or large chop is when it becomes a problem. You are relying on it to react predictably and it doesn’t and that results in a crash possibly.

Got it. I overlooked the thought of needing resistance when landing. Thanks for the great explanation. Watching to see what happens next.

So following Adams advice I literally drooped it out and mocked a shock up and will be building a short hoop in the back behind the rear seat.
I can get the shock to fit just fine.
I also ordered some leafs from ORD today for a different truck and it got me thinking I might try a set of custom springs for this.. I got the dang mounts etc all here why the heck not use it??? I got the shocks and the cantilever all built... so that may happen after tax time. I’ll sell off these leafs and step up to the new stuff and we’ll see what @Stephen can cool up for me if he’s up for it that is!! Which is never a worry! The leafs are not dead yet.. links are cool but that’s a big step in $$$$ for me right now.. plus the leafs I can unbolt these and bolt those in less than a day..

I really wanted to push the limits of leaf springs on the back of my girlfriends truck because I think i can make them work kickass. But a buddy is selling me a set of coilovers with springs for $400 so I just cant pass it up haha.
