PLAN B

This build was 2 parts 1 i have a truck I made to pretty to wheel so I'm building an ugly one I can actually enjoy. And 2. My cousin has been trying to join us for blazer bash but his truck wont be ready so we are surprising him with this one
no doubt the motor was throwing around my trans and tcase, walking next to it before i realized my mounts went out i could see a ton of movement in the tcase. ( the trans mount does look like its in great shape though, i am sure its super soft now after 8 hours of wiggling.
Someone mentioned the slider and the braces.
They made the side of the frame stiff and when the bottom lip gets pulled up from the engine twisting it bends instead of twisting the whole frame like it normally does.

Have any of you built custom crossmembers or shielding for your transfercases? I am looking for ideas....
I think spreading out the load and making a better shield will keep me from bending my frame again or more.

I am thinking of using a piece of angle iron along the underside of the frame between the frame and crossmember to strengthen that section and hopefully keep it straight. i will also add a plate under the trans mount so the tcase will sit at the same height but the crossmember will be just a hair lower. should keep my front driveline off my crossmember.

I think i need to locate a new crossmember, this one is a little twisted. sucks because the s style seem way hard to find here...

If you have any pics you guys would be willing to share i'd love the ideas

I think what you're describing is what I built for my truck. 2" angle iron along the frame rails and I used 2" square tube between the frame rails. I'm sure I have some pics....

man one day i'd like a doubler. i am running a pretty basic 208.
(on the topic of 208s..... anyone know of any upgrades for the 208? bigger chain, gear ratio changes? i do plan to do a slip eliminator asap... learning the hard way why you need one sucked... i figure when i do that upgrade i should just build it as much as possible if possible)

I do have that style crossmember sitting in the shop... i will need to look at it and see if i can make it work as the back brace for the s shaped crossmember and shield.

The question is how much are you gonna spend vs your other options. Why buy a new driveshaft for a SYE when it costs the same for that driveshaft behind a Doubler

Just saying

I spoke to my driveline guy right after blazer bash and he seemed to think building a driveline would be really cheap because nothing is broken, and he has some quality used parts he would hook me up with.

I dropped so much money this year i need to super cool it and just do the basics, a doubler will need to wait until later.

I don't think I would spend the cash on a SYE for a 208. Maybe a 241 if I was looking to stick with a single case.

maybe i should just pick up a couple extra slips so if i blow one out again on a trail i can just switch it out. i did cut 1/4" off the output shaft, i probably need to cut a little more and just go with it for now...

Sounds more reasonable

I’d hate to see you spend money twice to get to a Doubler. And you know, and I know, and even @skunked knows...
You want one

@skunked I thought the 208 and 241 were basically the same thing? i have never done any research on that i just heard the 241 is just the new 208. maybe 0.1 difference in gears but they run the same chain and everything.. is that wrong?

They are similar......

208 has 2.6:1 low, 241 has 2.71:1
241 has stronger planetaries, better shift forks. I think there are some other advantages with the oiling too....or that's what I've read at least.
