PLAN B

This build was 2 parts 1 i have a truck I made to pretty to wheel so I'm building an ugly one I can actually enjoy. And 2. My cousin has been trying to join us for blazer bash but his truck wont be ready so we are surprising him with this one
The big deal is the planetary. 6 vs 4.

If I had a 208, I'd run it. Until it broke or otherwise needed money... (sye)

then it would be a 241.

And 241's are easier to run a sye... 208's are mostly hack and tap or swap a dodge back half on unless im mistaken.

sigh.... looks like i need to find a 241...
i just did a quick google and it seems like a 89-90 blazer/suburban would be the right spline and have a mechanical speedo ? so that would be the easiest plug and play for this. mine is an 88, sucks i missed it by 1 year ;)

i also have a spare 208 sitting on the side of my house, part of why i was thinking of keeping and just building it. i already have a backup

Screw the SYE

Save for Doubler. Most 205s are factory SYE, the way it should be

Man i can only imagine how much a doubler will put me back lol.

first things first i'll focus on the damaged parts so its trail worthy then i'll start dreaming of a doubler.

Well cheapest route is get the shaft fixed so it won't leak or bottom out any more. May need to shorten it or move the axle back with some offset plates.

Its moved back 1.5" but i think shortening the shaft another 1/4 so 1/2" total should help

Is it leaking after the fix in Moab?
If it’s not, then let’s just shorten the output a little more. You didn’t have any more issues with it on Saturday right?

Zero leaks.
I do want to swap it out for one with a plug vs one thats welded. Id rather risk hitting a plug vs a solid metal plate.

So 89 is the only year 241 with a mechanical speedo.

You could get all crazy with the 208. Find a Dodge fixed yoke 208. Take it all apart and then mix dodge and chevy parts. There is some wierdness when doing it but I don't remember what.

Yes most dodge 208s were fixed yoke.

Fix what needs fixed. Wheel. You dont need to spend any money.

PB wheels pretty good in current form.

Your 700 and 208 is pretty close to a th350 or 400 with a 203/205 doubler.

Yeah I have done a couple of those dodge Chevy combo tcases.
I tried the Ford but didn't work.
I agree no reason to ditch the 208 yet.

anyone know of any discount codes or special offers for offroad design? I am leaning towards getting their engine crossmember and engine mounts. any of you running their motor mounts? thoughts? likes? dislikes?

I think they have one sale a year and it's black Friday. Can't comment on the ORD mounts but they're simple enough that I can't imagine any issues with them.
