Taylor wires and double platinum Ac Delco plugs gaped to.060 now the tb is actin up. Won't idle etc. Started the 2003+ tb upgrade by ordering all parts as mentioned by @Blue85 in the L18 8.1L resource thread. All parts are on the way but I only have two weeks b4 I gotta haul the k5 2.5 hours for the Carlisle PA truck Nats...

Still bangin my head on the wall... 2003 throttle body swap, rewired for the delphi 8pin 150 plug. Now all sorts of tps codes and no throttle motor control. I have 5 days to figure this out and it's Friday. It still won't idle. It stalls. Runs rough. All of which I'd did with the last throttle body.

Last ditch effort after a depressed call to Troy at Howell, swap out the tac module. So I found a delco unit on summit and it's being over nighted...

So the scramble to get running before the show is over after an emergency tac module order over night it's drivable. It's not finished tho as I only have about a 1/4 throttle pedal then it gets out of range. I have a new pedal on the way but I doubt it will be here in time.

Scored a suburban block and harness with widow wires. Good thing bc one rear window is stuck down and the other up...

Towed excellent even with the wrong accelerator pedal. With the exception of having to manual downshift on long uphill over 60mph. Fast forward to the road home, the ecm started dropping cylinders is my guess. I barely limped home with the remaining cylinders about 30 miles.

Accelerator pedal module is ordered. I hope the tac module isn't ruined as result. It was nice to feel all 8 cylinders making power for once

I've got spy photos of your truck, lol.

A guy I know was at the show and sent me pictures. When he saw it, he thought it was my truck at first. I should have known what truck he was talking about when he first texted me.
That's awesome! There's a lot of spy photos out there I'm sure there were guys crawling all over both my trucks all weekend. It's nice to feel appreciated

Rear windows are up, both the plugs fell off the worn out switches....
Oh and I sent the ecm back to Howell efi for possible replacement for defect. They can't test it so I don't know if this is the issue but I'm truly out of options.

So that's the other option @folkenheath but the problem is getting the Allison and new ecm to play nice. I have considered a stand alone tcm but carbing it will cost another 2500 or so and I'm not ready for that. @beags86 it is a big block lol

The Allison does throw a wrench in the mix as I don't know of an aftermarket ECU that will control an Allison and a gas EFI engine.

What about a standalone TCM and separate EFI ECU? Don't put a carb on it when it already has cam and crank sensors and DIS, or are you talking emissions?

Thats what I'm saying.... I my opinion big blocks are cooler then Cummins. Lol.

What I say may come off harsh, but no offense is intended. Why throw the baby out with the bathwater?

The engine and trans are already in there. The problem needs diagnosed. Unfortunately you don't have some of the items needed to do that diagnosis so it gets into a frustrating game of changing one part after another and still having problems.

For all we know it could be a wiring issue but without proving that with a solid diagnosis that is another shot in the dark. You can't tell Howell what is wrong if there is a potential wiring issue without proving it.

It's frustrating as all hell. Sometimes my techs get into the same mode of chasing parts and I end up stopping them and force them to focus on the diagnostic process and prove they need what they want me to sell.

Going through that process isn't easy and is almost impossible if you don't have access to a tech 2 scan tool or a high level aftermarket tool like a snap on Solus or similar. There is data you need to see that is more than reading codes. Trying to do diag without something like that is like putting a puzzle together you don't have the picture of.

If you were closer I'd take it on for sure. I can copy anything you need from the service manual and send it your way. But it's going to take some serious diag time to get to the root of the problem.
